Learn how twisted desires left a trail of terror and death, culminating in one of Oregon's most infamous criminal cases.
• Down A Mine Shaft: In a chilling true-crime tale of love, betrayal, and murder a young military wife, vanished during what was supposed to be a joyful new chapter in her life. Her disappearance unravels a web of secrets: a forbidden affair, a troubled marriage, and a lover’s deadly deception.. . . plus 89 more shocking, true crime murder stories
A Word of Warning
The explicit details of these murders come directly from eyewitness accounts, interviews, police reports, court transcripts, crime scenes, and autopsy reports. They contain disturbing facts that may not be suitable for all readers.

Story
In 1994, an aspiring young cold-case investigator in California’s East Bay, Paul Holes, puts aside trying to solve the Golden State Killer case as he waits for science to catch up. Paul returns to an old file cabinet at the back of the forensic lab to look for another cold case he can work—something with DNA. He finds one. The 1978 murder of a married mother who went for a morning jog in a nearby park. The original investigators believed that a serial killer named Phillip Hughes was responsible; they just couldn’t prove it.

Story
Real-life is stranger and more frightening than fiction, and this book serves to cement that principal even further. In this compilation, there are 11 cases of some of the most deplorable, unjust and violent crimes I’ve come across. From cannibals to rapists to the sickest, most twisted criminals you’ve not yet heard of, you’ll hear about them all in this book. I’ll tell you the story of Rurik Jutting, a British banker living in Hong Kong who held two women hostage, tortured them and raped them over a number of days.

Story
Eight true crime stories of murder and mayhem. In my first audiobook as a true crime author I've started with a few of the stories that have haunted me for some time. Some of these stories are unbelievable in their brutality while others are astounding in the stupidity of the killers. This collection of stories are from all around the globe and have no common thread between them other than that they are both thought provoking and disturbing. The stories included in this anthology are dark and creepy and will leave you with a new understanding of just how fragile the human mind can be.

For the young crime-scene analyst Paul Holes, it quickly became the most bizarre and surprising case of his storied career. It was immediately clear how Emmon had died: by being hit over the head with a heavy object. What wasn’t clear was who did it and why.

I'm not big on the narrator for these books but he had more inflection in this collection than he has had in other books so- I gave him an extra star this time!

These collections are a good way to get a quick true crime fix as each chapter takes about 20 minutes to read and is the complete story of one particular crime. The author does a good job with making the stories easy to read and follow from background up to the solving of the crimes. The narrator is perfect for this type of book and adds a lot to these gruesome and heartbreaking crimes.
