Publisher's summary

Loathed by those who should love her, can one fierce woman discover the secrets of her unique blood in time to be her own rescuer?

Forrest Hesketh desperately clings to humanity. Trapped in an infuriatingly inept wolf form since she was nine years old, the traumatized girl’s hope of regaining her ability to shift is slowly fading. But as her abusive pack plots to kill her, her desperate act to help her kind stepbrother finally triggers the broken young woman’s transformation.

Stunned that suddenly everyone wants her after 14 years of horrific treatment, Forrest struggles to relearn basic skills while dodging kidnappers and assassins. And with a powerful shifter councilman determined to claim her as a mate, even the protection of a gorgeous dragon can’t guarantee her safety.

With monsters closing in, will Forrest’s undaunted courage be enough to keep her alive?

Cursed Wolf is the fast-paced first book in the Creatures of the Otherworld urban fantasy series. If you like strong female characters, slow-burn romances, and stories of supernatural suspense, then you’ll adore Brogan Thomas’ captivating tale.

You can't keep a good wolf down

Forest has gone through many trials and tribulations in her young life many of which should have broken her but now she back stronger than ever. I really enjoyed this book with its many twist and turns. Poppy Royana did a phenomenal job as narrator bringing the story to life by giving the character emotions. The story may sometimes be heartbreaking and disconcerting but please don't let this turn you off because it gets better. Forest is a kickass heroine and when love is involved nothing stands in her way. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

Original Story with Amazing Character Growth

This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Forrest is such an amazing and unique character. Because she was trapped in her wolf form since she was a young girl, she isn't prepared to be human. As a result, the character growth is incredible in this story. Forrest goes from naive, guilt-ridden, and self-depreciating to an empowered woman who stands on her own long enough to discover who she is and what she wants. Despite being surrounded by people who continually let her down, or perhaps because of it, she channels all of her negative experiences into fighting for others and—eventually—for herself. This is fabulous character and an engaging story.

A New Anne McCaffrey

For the first time since reading Anne Mccaffrey many years ago, I have fallen into a magical world so compelling, beautifully written, fabulous characters and a memorable story line. I am in awe. Fantastic audible performance!!

Such a Joy!

I absolutely love this author! I have listened to her books multiple times, and they are wonderful, I just giggle at some of things her characters say, jazz hands. My daughter and I enjoy listening to them and can't wait for more. Love the narrator's voice!

What an adventure

What an intense and interesting shifter story!
Forest is one hell of a shifter, she has gone through so much horribleness in her life, and she doesn’t let it break her.
I have to say Owen is my favorite character.

Reread -
I forgot how much I love this story. Forest is an incredible female, she took all of her trauma and used it to make herself into a warrior. She used her past and trauma to help females everywhere. I absolutely love her fierceness and tenacity.
The banter and inner monologue was hilarious. I laughed out loud many times.
I still absolutely adore Owen.

A Rollicking Fast Paced Supernatural Adventure

This book is not for the faint-hearted. The MC's abusive experiences are extensive and intense. In addition the pace of the book and the narration by Poppy Royana is more than a little manic as is MC Forrest herself.

But what a wild ride this book is. It is full length so plenty of time for rich and engaging plot arcs. A minute in, and I was carried away only to stay up way too late reading it. I just HAD to know what was going to happen next. The skilled narration brings the story alive.

In addition, I was very thankful for minimal explicit scenes, Both the inner dialogue and conversation were witty and quirky and the characters totally unique, fresh and relatable. The story covers a lot of the supernatural spectrum from wolves to dragons to fae.

In three words this book is: So incredibly fun. An excellent first book for Brogan Thomas.

Cursed Wolf review

It was as good as Cursed Demon. Like Cursed Demon, it had an interesting main character and was exciting from beginning to end with great narration.

Interesting shifter story

This is the first book that I've had the pleasure of listening to by the Author. I love a good shifter story, and this one doesn't disappoint.

Forrest has a hard time in the beginning, but soon she realizes that she can take care of herself. All she has to do, is to prove that to everyone else.

Good story rushed conclusion.

I started reading this with my Kindle Unlimited and was not able to finish it due to having to go to work, so I bought the audio version with Whispersync about 1/3 into so I can listen to at work, as I wanted to know what happened to Forrest. I love an underdog story. I love the nicknames she gives everybody. Forrest was a great character to have as our heroine. Overall, I liked this book, but I didn’t like the time jumps and I didn’t like how we as listeners didn’t get to learn how Forrest becomes a bad ass, it made the story a bit unbelievable. I also would have liked to know the side characters better and I wanted her to confront her brother about his neglect. I feel that Brogan Thomas could have made this into 2-3 books to expand on the story line as the second half felt rushed and I was enjoying the story much more, up until about that point when everything felt rushed. Narrator takes a bit to get used to, then she was fine. I will listen to the next in the series if I find it on sale.
