About this listen

Have the day-to-day realities of being a dad and husband left you frustrated or just plain worn out? You're not alone. Jerrad Lopes felt that way too...until he started blogging about his struggles and discovered thousands of other men who want to be good husbands and fathers but don't know where to start.

In Dad Tired and Loving It, you will learn that spiritual leaders:

  • Realize their story isn't the story - it's all about Jesus
  • Point their wives, children, community, and world toward God
  • Stumble their way through spiritual leadership rather than doing nothing
  • Seek humility rather than strive for perfection

When you begin to understand the bigger picture of God's purpose for you in your marriage and family, you'll see that the good news of Jesus makes it possible for you to love and lead without fear and discouragement. Get equipped and encouraged as you become the man God is calling you to be - even when you're dad tired.

I liked everything about it, I think this book covers the major things most fathers most likely fail to do because we naturally want to be subject matter experts and when we’re not, it can be tougher to lead in this situations so I thought it was good.

A great book for those seeking to grow closer to Jesus and hearing a few ways from another dad and husbands perspective on how to do so. Jerrad does a great job pointing you towards Jesus and new ways to help you grow and ways to help you and your family to grow closer to the lord, what a great book.

Phenomenal

The author claims the spirit told him to quit his job, he then had to give up his home, and put his family in a financial peril became he was unemployed and was no longer able to provide for his family. "If a man doesn't work, let him not eat." 2 Thess 3:10. Ephesians 4:28: “...but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” He failed to follow the script and failed his wife here. You are not going to have some divine guidance that contradicts the Bible (Galatians 1:8-9).

There are some good ideas in the book. But don't be fooled into thinking that your stupid idea is the spirit guiding you or some divine direction. It's just you, being dumb. Especially if it is in contradicting to the Bible.

Also, being a leader means to actually lead. To carry the burden on your back, to shield and protect. To love and to guide. Your wife has to babysit you, guide you and stop you from impulsive and poorly planned decisions. You literally put yourself into a situation that could result in your death because you can't think ahead. Or make a decision where you put your family in financial jeopardy. You need to slow down and do a better job thinking before acting.

Some misguided ideas, some good ideas

I’ve read a lot of books that speak to the “ideals” of parenthood, but this book feels more accessible and down to Earth. This was a really encouraging read for me. It made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Not tears because of something sad, but more because I could relate so much to what was being said. If you’re a tired dad, you need to read this book.

Really Encouraging!

I really appreciate that the entire book focuses on the Gospel and then he gives the how and why this impacts us in our day to day lives as dads and husbands.

Extremely Gospel centered and loving it

This book is like a 8 piece nugget meal. Each chapter has encouraging and challenging points that are easy to digest and in a memorable story form. I found myself in silence at the end, contemplating lots of things about my life as a dad, husband, and disciple of Christ. I couldn’t help but feel less tired of it and little more hopeful about it all.

Hope for a Burnt Out Dad and Husband
