Publisher's summary

I’m effed up. A hot mess. Haunted. Damaged.

But he doesn’t think so. He thinks my imperfectness is what makes me perfect. He loves my flaws. My quirks. My scars. He wants to protect me. See me happy. Make me alive. He wants to give me everything I need, no matter how twisted and wrong and depraved.

He needs me to need him, which makes me wonder…is he damaged, too?

This beautifully damaged romance deals with seriously heavy topics, such as depression, anxiety, violence, and self-harm.

Good book, warning about mental health triggers.

I stepped out of my comfort zone with this one but it was still good! I am normally weary about books with characters with mental health issues but I think the author was very careful not to make light of the topic.

The narrators were excellent, especially Desiree Ketchum! Her voice is very pretty and she told this story with so much feeling.

Dark, Sexy, and Oh So Twisted

The Angel of Mercy gets 5 stars!!!

This is a beautiful romance that is extremely damaged. It is full heavy topics, like depression, anxiety, and self-harm. But don't let that scare you away from a story that, while dark and twisted, is an amazing love story between a hunky tech mogul and his obsession.

A fucked-up worshiper praying at the altar of a damaged goddess.

Briar Dillon is but a step away from quitting life, she is troubled and depression. She is the definition of damaged. Her soul is tainted with trauma from her past and even with the love and care of her older sister and therapy, there is no fixing her.

Alexander Thorton, a "tech-nerd" crosses paths with Briar. Little does she know, she immediately became his obsession. When she fails to hide her despair, he knows exactly what she needs.

The audiobook of Damaged is narrated by Joe Arden and Desiree Ketchum. These two narrators were absolutely stellar! Desiree was a badass carrying a large amount of this story on her shoulders. She beautifully brought Briar to life and you could really feel all of Briar's struggles, pain, and fears coming through your headphones. The performance is her best to date. If there is a Joe that is my favorite, it's dark and twisted Joe. He really brought Alexander and all his complex layers to life. Both Joe and Desiree knocked this one out of the park!

This book was fantastic. It was dark, it was sexy, the chemistry between Briar and Alexander was so alluring it was undeniable and inevitable. It has a heroine in need of redemption, a hero that would do anything for her, unexpected twists, and a very satisfying HEA. If you like all of that and then some, this is the book for you. This was my first book by Layla Frost and it certainly won't be my last.

Intense and Riveting

Damaged is a part of Duet, but can be read as a standalone. Deathly is the other book in this duet and while not necessary, I would definitely recommend reading Aria’s book as well.
Damaged is an incredible story that is masterfully written and reads like a psychological thriller .... only better, because the chemistry between Alexander and Briar is scorching hot.
While brought up in money and luxury, Briar had endured an unspeakably damaging childhood, culminating in critical health issues. While desperately trying to hang on, and with the help of her sister, she is making baby steps in regaining control of her life. She meets Alexander at a crucial intersection of her life, and becomes his obsession.
The author gives us a captivating story with incredibly well developed characters, and I could not put this book down once I started reading it. The narration by Desiree Ketchum is phenomenal!

Dark and Twisted Love Story

Damaged by Layla Frost was dark and twisted romantic delight. I loved Aria's story in Brynne Asher's Deathly, so I was so excited to listen to Damaged. This is book is Briar's book in the Dillon Sisters books, and I loved every gripping bit of it. This is my first book by Lalya Frost, and it will not be my last.

This audiobook is narrated by Desiree Ketchum and Joe Arden. Desiree Ketchum was simply stunning at bringing Briar to life. In Desiree's performance, you could feel Briar's pain, worries, fears, and desires as she struggled to overcome numerous troublesome challenges that often left her conflicted about her future. Desriee truly gave a memorable performance in this audio that will stick with me long after. Joe Arden did an amazing job narrating Alexander's dark, dirty, and protective personality so well. I loved that Alexander's character had so many hidden layers to uncover. Briar and Alexander's had this super hot alluring chemistry that was undeniable.

Overall, I loved this story. If you love a dark romance, with a super protective hunky billionaire, a conflicted troublesome heroine who overcomes so many obstacles, dark and dirty steamy times, a loyal caring sister, unexpected twists and turns that leave you captivated till the very end, and a simply satisfying HEA, then you will love Briar and Alexander's romance. I look forward to more from Layla Frost.
