About this listen

The Rowan was one of the greatest telepaths ever born, treasured by the people she saved from alien invasion - and loved by a young man who never hoped to win her heart. In spite of his feelings, Afra remained loyal to the Rowan. He stayed by her side and helped to raise her Talented daughter, Damia.

Now, years later, Damia is a full-grown Talent of great power. Terrible alien voices echo within her mind. And a wondrous new feeling for Afra is growing within her heart.

In a universe under seige, only one thing can defeat the power of fear: the power of love.

Beautiful gift!

"Damia" is my favorite story ever. Nearly 30 years on, from my delight and amazement when I read this book as the 1st in the Tower & The Hive series. I still re-read out of order. Imagine Rowan's chagrin at being placed second to her audacious capricious daughter;) I was beyond delighted to find it & listen to it, on Audible. For me, Anne McCaffrey will always be the Grand Dame of science fiction & romance. The complicated, desolate and seemingly hopeless relationship of Damia and Afra still brings a smile(and a few tears) to a nostalgic old heart. Many many kudos to Anne's fantastic imagination and to the producers at Brilliance Audio!

Afra & Damia

An intriguing read of the FT&T focused on Afra and Damia. The end sets the scene for the next books.

second only to dragonriders of Pern

I absolutely love this series of books from Anne McCaffrey. dragonriders of Pern has my heart, however I always read this series after I have reread dragonriders of Pern all the way through. Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors, the kind that you wish had written another 300 books in her lifetime. I highly recommend any of these books but definitely damia one of my favorites

Rereading Favorite Childhood Books

Anne McCaffrey books were one the delights of my childhood! I read the ACORNA series, and knew I had a new Author!
I was also reading the Heinlein juveniles, CS Lewis, Asimov, and all the Science fiction I could get Chicago Public Libraries to.buy! I can honestly say they all stood the test of time. I am once again!

Good story

In the first book, I found the plat to be to reminiscent of Ender's game but not as well estabisshed in characters building. This book, well the first three chapters was more of a review of the event of The Rowan but from the perspective of a secondary character that would evolve in one of the two primary characters. But it was nice to see the evolution of a family/characters much like back to the old home town and renewing old friendships. This is a nice easy seires to listen to, especially if you like scifi.
