Publisher's summary

Vampire hunter Anita Blake leaps into uncharted territory in the all-new novella from number-one New York Times best-selling author Laurell K. Hamilton.

For most people, summer barbecues are nothing to be afraid of. But Anita isn't exactly plain vanilla - and neither is her love life. So it takes a special kind of courage to attend a barbecue thrown by her friend Sergeant Zerbrowski. Walking into a backyard full of cops and their families with were-leopards Micah and Nathaniel both looking gorgeous on her arm won’t be easy, even with almost-four-year-old Matthew Vespucci to break the ice....

Anita is determined to have a good time with her family, just like everyone else. But it doesn't take long for tensions to rise among the adults and kids. And Anita will learn that gossip and innuendo can be just as dangerous as anything the undead can throw at her....

Enjoyed it.

Quick listen and a good story. Narrator used a slightly different tone in her voice for the main character than normal. Was a little thrown off by that at first, but she came back around by the end of the story.

Dancing

A novel to help tide you over until the next delicious novel. I really enjoy these. Horror is not for everyone but if it’s your cup of tea may you enjoy this quick sip. Fun in the same vein as Sucker Punch.

I truly did love it. It was cute and it also showed a side of Anita that we don't get to see.

Wholesome

see this is the type of one shot that I like to listen to/read. it may not affect overall story, but it's a nice little mini book. Unlike the other one where was just another sex scene.

A nice switch up. :)

a very pleasant surprise and switch up to the usual story line.
Still Anita, still the boys, but a nice simple change of pace for them. Even they have to have a day of normalcy, right?

Wonderful Lighter Story

The story begins with teaching tolerance to youngsters, and the consequences of lying. Very soon Nathaniel gets his time in the limelight when he talks Katie Zerbrowski into putting on some of her daughter's ballet music. What follows makes a lovely evening for all ages.
