A sparkling tale of Regency England, a forced marriage, and two magicians who must work together to save the Kingdom.
Elizabeth Bennet is stunned when someone from the Royal Mage Academy comes to her peaceful country home to take her away. She is even more bewildered when she is commanded to marry a powerful gentleman by the name of Fitzwilliam Darcy. She has always dreamed of marrying for love, and an arranged marriage with an arrogant stranger was never part of her plans.
Fitzwilliam Darcy is equally dissatisfied with this match. An obscure young lady from the middle of nowhere is hardly worthy of his position. But Darcy and Elizabeth have no choice in the matter. Uniting their two forms of magic is essential if they are to defeat Napoleon's magicians. They may dislike each other on sight, but Elizabeth and Darcy have to overcome their differences and find common ground before it is too late.
Fortunately, it is not long before the sparks begin to fly between them.

We are visual beings, even in our imaginations. And our voices age as we do. Just because we can't see their beautiful gray hair, it does not mean that we don't know it's there.
Lady Catherine's voice for Lizzie?

This story was inventive and entertaining.
The narrator was good and took the time to bring the story to life.

It's apparent even before the wedding what the problem will be and who is behind it, so for most of the book, we're waiting for them to figure it out and watching all that unfolds as the instrument does its damage and the person behind it goes undiscovered.
It's a little frustrating at times.
When Lizzie finally puts the pieces together, she is not in a position to collect the final evidence needed, so she hands her evidence and suspicions off to Lord Matlock. The resolution to that happens off page, and while I suppose that could be disappointing, frankly, with all the other side characters involved and the context--it's far more believable. We're more worried about whether or not Darcy and Elizabeth will get their HEA or not anyway.
Still, there was a lot to enjoy here. This is a Wickham free story, and Mr. Bennett listens to Lizzie and supports her in finding something constructive for Lydia to do. Jane and Bingley are in the story, but they don't meet, and Jane is in only one scene. Caroline Bingley makes a good frenemy. There is adequate groveling and a lot of magic.
4/5 recommend.
Enjoyable

This proves that statement, possibly a little paraphrased. I not only struggled to get through this one, but I could care less if there is a book two.
Each chapter seems to carry the same theme; they are at war with French Mages ready to attack at any moment, ODC fight being married to each other as a Twin Mage pair, they can’t bond their magic, should they annul the marriage, Lizzie’s magic is all wrong, she didn’t get the proper academy training, but she is powerful, the Lady Mages hate her…..yada, yada, yada.
There are good moments and other moments that are different, although they follow the same theme.
Of course, Lizzie’s magic is proved to be far more powerful and helpful than any could imagine. Yeah, we figured that was coming.
The narrator is great on male voices, but her female voices all sound geriatric.

The performance however was very good. There were a few moments when it was hard distinguish Darcy from Bingley, however that did not hinder my enjoyment in the voice actor’s building of characters. I believe the actor was done a disservice lending their talent to this piece.
