About this listen

As a renowned wizard, Fitzwilliam Darcy thinks he is familiar with most of the spells, enchantments, and magic practiced in the wizarding world. When he reluctantly joins his friend Bingley in Meryton, a small town not known for its magic, he is startled to stumble upon the rare gift possessed by Miss Elizabeth Bennet. The daughter of a poor country squire, she possesses a singular talent: She is not only immune to magic, but she can counter enchantments as well.

Despite their initial dislike of each other, the two draw closer as the threat from the Thieving Necromancer, a dark wizard stealing people’s magic, grows more dangerous.

As Darcy battles nefarious wizards and Elizabeth unravels ever more difficult spells, they uncover dark secrets and break mysterious enchantments.

But love may prove the most important magic of all.

This was a wonderful combination of Magic and Pride and Prejudice.
I read it straight through. I’ve listened to a few fantasy P&P stories lately and this was one of my favorites. Magic, Mystery, Romance in a very well written story. I also thought the narrator was good. Can’t recommend enough. Enjoy!!

This audio version is wonderfully performed / narrated by Lillian Rachel. All the character’s voices are just as I would imagine them to be. Great story!

Not normally my cup of tea to read fantasy. But I enjoyed this story very much. Well written story and greatly narrated.

Great book.

I loved this story, the author did a brilliant job of creating the world of P&P with magic. In this tale, magical abilities and skills are as important as wealth and societal status, so FWD is not only wealthy, handsome and well connected but he is also a powerful Wizard, as is Mr. Bingley. The Bennett family has a magical component that is woven into the story in a masterful way as well. The framing of this tale follows the events of canon, so it starts in Merryton, the insult at the assembly happens, the trip to Kent, then Derbyshire and back to Merryton. But the intertwining of the magical world makes it completely new. The characters stayed true to themselves and were completely recognizable from canon and other PP variations. I highly recommend this listen.

The narrator did a really good job, I've listened to other books she has narrated and this one is way better than previous. the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that she is a bit jolly overall, I'm not sure if its the tone of her voice or her reading style, but it was something I noticed. Also, she has a pronunciation thing that was really noticeable that was a little distracting. But overall I think it was well done.

Clever mix-up of magic and P&P

In in this world of Pride and Prejudice there are wizards. Darcy appears at Netherfield hoping to follow a lead. He comes in contact with Elizabeth and learns she does not have magical abilities like her sisters, but soon learns she is more magical than most anyone she meets. This puts her in danger making Darcy fear for her safety.
The narrator was good, the story came to life. I was happy with the ending.

Wizards and P&P, oh my

When I first started reading the book, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but I’m very glad that I didn’t stop. It’s a magical fantasy take on pride and prejudice that is different from some of the other variations that I’ve read so it’s a nice refresher on the pride and prejudice story with some new twist and turns. It was also quite refreshing that for once the bad guy was not Wickham.

An interesting Take

I liked that Mr and Mrs Bennett had much more to their characters and past than they usually do in these types of books. It was fun to listen to this -- the reader was great -- i think she made this silliness much more palatable. there were a few cringing cheesy moments but overall, tolerable.

super cheesy p&p AU fanfic

I really liked this story line, but had trouble following, because the narrator’s voice hardly changed between characters. She read well and acted well, but differentiation between characters was very poor.

Good Story, narration not equal
