The author describes everything five different ways. you can't read a paragraph with without 20 or 30 adjectives in it. this distracts so much. I got well over halfway through it and couldn't follow the storyline. it's so distracting that there really is no storyline. you're constantly trying to skip through his over description in every sentence, just so you can understand what's going on. that's old saying you can't see the forest through the trees this book. does that to the reader or listener, in this case You can't follow the storyline because the author focuses more on describing and setting up every scene and then continually doing it through the scene as it unfolds. there is not a non-descriptive sentence in this book except during dialogue between two characters. I just couldn't finish it and I loved of Archer's books, he certainly did not write this one though, unless he completely changed his writing style. Even George RR Martin, who overdescribes most scenes to an extreme like this, knows that you can't do that in everything. he has some very heavy over-descriptive parts in his books, but not every sentence. every paragraph everything. Granted he does too much as well, but you can follow the story somewhat at least.
What could have been very good was destroyed.
