Publisher's summary

A near death experience is only the beginning of Jeff Resnick's troubles. Family comes to town, but one of them, a nephew who reminds Jeff of the thugs who mugged him, has unsettled him. He's on edge. The fact that his brother has taken possession of an expensive boat through an IRS auction takes his mind off the bad vibes he's getting from other relatives. But that yacht holds a deadly secret, one destined to turn his world upside down. Will Jeff figure out the puzzle before his vision of near death becomes a reality?

Dark Waters by L.L. Bartlett

Jeff's sister-in-law is about to have her baby, his brother buys a boat and Jeff helps his newspaper friend investigate a story. Sounds normal enough but nothing is ever normal around Jeff Resnick.

Steven Barnett once again lends his considerable talents to the narration of this very enjoyable book.

I have only listened to this one so it is my favorite .

Jeff Resnick is my favorite character because, even though he seems messed up and is dealing with some life issues. He is strong and motivated to take care of business.

What does Steven Barnett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like how he brings each character to life and makes them have a voice of there own .

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Jeff Resnick is back, You will be Captivated by the story line with plot twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Always excited to find a fantastic narrator!

Any additional comments?

Just when I think I've found a narrator that amazing than all others, another one pops up out of nowhere for me.

Steven Barnett does an excellent job and he is more of a performer than just a narrator. With his distinctive voices for each character and his ability to bring excitement to the world the author created you get an entertaining story that you cannot help but be drawn into.

I will say right now that Evelyn and Demar were by far the most selfish, inconsiderate, annoying, thoughtless, ungrateful jerks that I never warmed up to. And even by the end of the story I was ready for them to ship back to wherever they came from.

Evelyn: looks down on Richard because he has money and he's white. (Now if that isn't racism, then I don't know what is).Treats Brenda like a child because she's married to Richard. Walks around with a chip on her shoulder, judging everything Richard, Jeff, and Brenda does harshly. I was sick of her by chapter 2!

Demar: whines about being poor, not being born into riches like Richard was, terrorizes poor Jeff, and instead of getting a legal job because he's only good to work at McDonalds, he does something stupid!

Maggie: why the hell is Jeff so in love with this woman! And then to have to deal with her problems with everything Jeff is going through didn't make her look worth his love. After everything she put him through previously I'm disappointed the author chose not to create someone worthy of Jeff's heart.

Brenda: could not stand her at the beginning of this story but she warned me over towards the middle.

Jeff: -sigh- I felt so bad for him because I know personally how PTSD can destroy everything you believed in. It's painful to watch someone go through it.

Richard: I hated how accommodating he was towards Evelyn and Demar but was impressed with his patience. I would have kicked those two out of my home after day one.

I loved that this is an interracial couple and family and the mystery of the story surrounding Jeff is intriguing. There is a short story right after this story and I was so glad Demar and Evelyn was not part of it!

Overall, a great mystery to listened to with some real life grudges and judges that come with an interracial family.

L.L. Bartlett and Steven Barnett make a great team

What made the experience of listening to Dark Waters the most enjoyable?

Not only is the story itself riveting, but Steven Barnett brings L.L. Bartlett's story to a whole new scary level, It was scary reading the book, he makes it even scarier. And I love it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jeff Resnick. He evokes many emotions in me because of his personal situation. And I find it interesting how he deals with the deadly situations he gets into. And I love his relationship with his brother and his family.

Have you listened to any of Steven Barnett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, this one is great, just like all of his other presentations. He is able to use his voice so I know which character is talking - both male and female.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, the dangerous situation that Jeff and another character were involved in.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend both L. L. Bartlett's Jeff Resnick books, and Steven Barnett's performances. They both do an excellent job in their professions!

FANTASTIC. IT GETS BETTER AND BETTER..

Excellent. Jeff Resnick solved a murder and also helped a young man who was full of anger and .resentment towards those who are better off than he. Jeff's psychic powers were put to good use. A very interesting and action packed story. Steven Barnett was very good. The emotions and feelings of the different characters were very well done. I was so engrossed in the book. I am coming to the last book so far being published and I hope that book eight will published soon. Thank you l l Bartlett writing such a wonderful series.
