About this listen

Nursing a broken heart, Robbie Jordan is trading in her life on the West Coast for the rolling hills of Southern Indiana. After paying a visit to her Aunt Adele, she fell in love with the tiny town of South Lick. And when she spots a "for sale" sign on a rundown country store, she decides to snap it up and put her skills as a cook and a carpenter to use.

Everyone in town shows up for the grand reopening of Pans 'n Pancakes, but when the mayor's disagreeable assistant is found dead, Robbie realizes that not all press is good press. With all eyes on her, she'll have to summon her puzzle-solving skills to clear her name, unscramble the town's darkest secrets, and track down a cold-blooded killer - before she's the next to die.

Not sure I flipped for the story

Pretty good story, but not the best I've read or listened to. Might be awhile before I listen to the second one.

Voice was hard for me

Had a really hard time with the narrators voice. The character in the book was supposed to be younger but voice did not match. Very disconcerting. Had a hard time feeling like I could get lost in the story.

Tasty muredr

This is. A fantastic sweet and fun story of a young woman who 1st is way more than meets the eye also she decides to open up a sweet country dinner and because of that she seems to be in the cross hairs of some of the past she never even knew about. This is a fun story and I will be listening to the 2nd one as soon as I can.

The narrator. Who says ‘DIAH-per’?

I liked the story / simple and entertaining. Unfortunately I found the narrator annoying. I don’t think I can endure more stories narrated by her.

Characters came alive.

I enjoyed the flow of the story. Reader of book flowed from one character to another effortlessly.

Friends taking care of friends!!!

I liked it when Robbie found her Father. And her father responded by welcoming her to come to Italy.

Good book but bad narrator

the book seemed good but the narrator seems older than the characters in the book, hard to get into the book when the narrator doesn't sound relatable to the characters. I may hold off on the other books of series

Narrator was not age appropriate

I liked the plot and thought it was a good easy story but it was very difficult to picture it in my head as I was listening due to the narrator. The lead character in the door was supposed to be 27 years old. The narrator sounded like she was at least 75. She was very well spoken but not the right choice for the character.

It was kinda boring

I’m want to like it. However the story was kinda boring and long for no reason. It also seemed that the story didn’t flow. Left me with a few questions at the end like the murders motive. What they said to the police and what they told Robbie was different. Also the romance triangle that they always put in these types of stories wasn’t needed in this book and it felt kinda of forced in this case almost an afterthought. I’m going to read the second book in hopes that the series gets better.
