About this listen

A chance encounter can change everything.

When Aly joined the Grayhart mission to find advanced civilizations within deep space, she didn't expect to be captured far from home and taken to Xolis, a galactic empire like none ever seen, ruled by the nillium, a powerful race with a serious god complex.

Now outsiders, Aly and her team of explorers are sent to the darkest place within Xolis: Lethe Maws. A mining city on a planet home to outcasts, slaves, and monstrous creatures lurking in the deep dark. It's home to the Dark One, a dangerous exile even the nillium fear, living at the bottom of the mines where all are warned never to go.

When Aly runs into the legendary alien in a very unlikely place, what she finds is no monster but a large, mysterious, nillium male with fierce silver eyes, who makes her heart race. But though the nillium outcast had reached for her, desiring to touch her, fascinated by her as she was of him, Aly soon learns he's not looking to be friends or possibly something more. What Aly doesn't know is that the Dark One - known by his kind as Ryziel, son of the nillium's now dead ruler - isn't looking for love or a mate. He's looking to get off Lethe Maws for good and return home to his brother, the only family who accepts him for who he is, the only one who matters. But the human woman brings out a darker part of him that he can't control; something he never thought possible. As he is determined to escape, he struggles to understand his need for her. A need to protect her. A need to claim her. He's determined not to let her get too close lest she be his undoing.

Try as he might to keep her at a distance, Aly will become the one thing Ryziel needs to be free.

Dark's Savior is a stand-alone novel in the Dark World Mates series.

Good Story

I liked this book a lot. The story was interesting. I didn’t like it at first because I was comparing it to the first in the series. I really liked the romance of Lana Xerus. I feel there relationship was mature and organic. Ally and Ryzeil was a bit strange for me. I’m not a fan of “I hate you but I’m attracted to you for no real reason” That trope always throws me off. Ally was a bit annoying. She was always “curious” in a way that bordered on childlike. I just could not buy into their love story. But that aside the story was really good once The women were shipped to Nill. It was interesting. I would definitely recommend this book. I still think the first one was better.

Excellent world build but takes a bit to get into it.

The story is really good, but it can have long drawn out periods where it’s somewhat difficult to maintain interest. If you hold on though the story builds and becomes more complex generally to the last half.

Finally! Good sci-fi romance

I am buying all her books because it’s hard to find great sci-fi romance books with smart characters! Love the slow to burn feel between the love interests too!

Gets better

This book started off slow and drug along until midway and then began to improve. The ending didn’t seem like things were resolved and one major thing was left unsaid and addressed. I liked the narrator of first book better for female characters; had to again get used to Heathers scraggly voice; which I did once more action erupted. Jeffrey did a good job with male characters. Will probably listen to the next book in series if it is ever written and released.

Good overall

As mentioned in other reviews, the first book was better. This book in comparison, though interesting, wasn’t as exciting a listen. The performance by the narrators was average but didn’t quite embody the characters. Overall a good book and set up for the continuation of the series.

Additionally:
More sci-fi plot than heavy romance
Mostly pining which eventually leads to mild spice

Engaging

Aly is a great blend of strong and soft. She doesn't whine and is kind, but she also isn't afraid to fight for herself. Her relationship with Ryziel is nicely complicated. The book keeps moving with plot twists and extra adventure. The narrator was excellent and the story well written. I would highly recommend.
