About this listen

God’s perfect plan is sometimes so hard to determine.

Gwendolyn, Cecelia, and the youngest, Bonnie, make a pact never to break their father’s heart like their big sister did. Then their determination is sorely tried when suitors show up, and he gets so pigheaded with his rules.

Will Henry survive his daughters coming of age? Will they endure and keep their promises to each other?

From one man asking to court her—who Daddy sends packing—Gwen goes to three! How can she ever decide? Cecelia knows exactly who she wants, but she’s still a year away from Daddy’s acceptable courting age. What if her beau doesn’t know or won’t wait? And Bonnie hates being the baby and wants to be grown-up more than just about anything…except her man. She is for sure and for certain in love.

In his life, Henry Buckmeyer has never been so beside himself. His little girls are so young, just babies, too young. He hates the whole idea of men coming to take them away and is inclined to shoot every one of them, but praise God for a level-headed, loving wife and step-mother! She helps keep him sane amidst the female chaos. Packed with fun, romance, deception, action, heartbreak and tears, this delightful Christian novel keeps the twists and turns coming.

Will the Buckmeyer home ever be settled and peaceful again? Will any of his daughters find true love…a man he'll approve and to whom he can give his blessing?

Good Book

This was a fun continuence in the series. After their older sister runs off to marry someone their father didn't approve of, Gwendolyn, CeCe and Bonnie agree to be true daughters and never go against their father in marriage or dating... even though there is no courting until they are 18. Three young men come into the picture and with them comes some drama, intrigue and suspense. It all shakes out well in the end though.

While you could read as a standalone, I believe it would make much more sense if you read the series in order. There are a lot of characters that carry over from book to book.

The narrator did a good job.

open to interpretation

Everyone is NOT as pious as they present and many have their own agendas saying it's the lord's way??? I disagree. For all the Christian virtues spouted about, many were liars and a wide margin off center of being christian.I don't appreciate it said as the lord's will- it's their interpretation because the lord isn't here to dispute. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

A sweet and clean story, I loved it!

I loved the story three sisters Gwendolyn, Cecelia and Bonnie I’ll make a promise to be true daughters after their daddy tells going to lunch she can’t marry Clay, despite her love for him she listens to daddy. The next thing you know a guy who kind of sounded creepy went on his way into town he’s talking about how he can’t wait to meet these beautiful women and the bear is beautiful as Jethro says then he’s going to marry one Then a dinner he looks at Gwendolyn and thinks what kissable lips she has. Maybe That is supposed to be endearing I found it creepy. I eventually light Isaiah or is his name Ezekiel I DK I always get those names mixed up. In any event Gwendolyn is mourning the loss of clays presence in her life and Isaiah Ezekiel and Sicilia start passing fond glances Add each other while ma and pa Discuss having another baby. They have many storylines in this book and they all add up to be a very great book one that I loved. However as far as the narrator goes maybe she would do better in another genre she did great with the voices don’t get me wrong I just think another genre would suit her better. This is just my opinion so don’t get me Wrong you may like her and think my opinion is rubbish just keep in mind we are all entitled to that one thing or opinion. Other than that I highly recommend this book.

Strong Feelings

I love this series. The narrator makes the story come alive. This is the fifth book in the series. Henry is just trying to survive his three daughters romances. His older daughter took off and married, and doesn't want his other three daughters to do the same. He is being strict with Gwendolyn, Cecelia and Bonnie. Will he make it through all the craziness.

Sweet Historical Romance

So much going on at once, and the dramatic teenage love troubles, left me both laughing a bit confused. I thought the narrator did fairly well, but when the slave girl's narration was the slave girl's voice, I just didn't understand that. Most of the characters had the same rise and fall even though the voices were different, it made them sound too similar.
I thought I had read or listened to the stories prior to this one in this series, but I still felt like I was missing some key components.
