Publisher's summary

A troubled war hero. A criminal mastermind. And the ultimate battle for survival....

Former Special Forces officer and international best-selling author Jason Kasper delivers a gripping thriller series that follows an Army Ranger into the mercenary depths of an international crime syndicate. A veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, David Rivers is a flawed and complex hero whose journey of vengeance takes him to new battlegrounds in the US and Africa...and toward his ultimate confrontation with the most ruthless enemy he’s ever faced.

Audiobook one: Greatest Enemy

Army Ranger David Rivers enters the covert underworld of ex-special operators for hire, tasked to serve a faceless criminal mastermind known as the Handler. But as the stakes continue to rise, he learns that his new employer is more ruthless than anyone he's faced in combat - and he just might be David's greatest enemy.

Audiobook two: Offer of Revenge

After the betrayal of his mercenary team, David Rivers seeks revenge against the Handler, but first he must join the secretive and lethal organization that serves him. Sent into battle against a savage force of enemy fighters in Somalia, David realizes that someone inside the organization seems to know his true purpose...and has been waiting for him all along.

This explosive debut thriller series by a former Green Beret has electrified fans of Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, Lee Child, and Brad Taylor. If you like razor-sharp dialogue, conflicted characters, and adrenaline-pumping action scenes, you'll love the David Rivers series because it has all three in spades. Pick up your copy today.

Fantastic Narration, Overhyped writing

The narrator knocks this book out of the park, and it almost justifies giving it a listen. But I'm nearly through the first book, and the only major plot twists are laughably predictable. The side characters read like a call of duty script. While the main character is a great discussion on veteran suicide, it doesn't rectify the fact that the author never explains why they are fighting "the bad guys."

Honestly, this book is what a thriller would be written from the antagonists perspective. Especially if the antagonist doesn't know the protagonist is coming.

Unbearable

I am an avid audiobooks listener, enjoying Tom Clancy, Lee Child, Michael Connolly, etc. I appreciate a variety of narrators and writing styles. I spend about $300 a month in book credits - and I wish I could have this one credit back!! The narrator has no sense of pacing and is self-indulgent with emphasis and tone. The writing is excruciatingly descriptive about mundane details. The timing hops around so much it’s difficult to get a sense of the storyline. I’d love to enjoy sitting through this 2-book purchase, but I’m caulking this up as a complete loss. Don’t waste your time.
