About this listen

Whilst organising a mock murder hunt for the village fete hosted by Sir George and Lady Stubbs, a feeling of dread settles on the famous crime novelist Adriane Oliver. Call it instinct, but it's a feeling she just can't explain...or get away from.

In desperation she summons her old friend, Hercule Poirot - and her instincts are soon proved correct when the "pretend" murder victim is discovered playing the scene for real, a rope wrapped tightly around her neck.

But it's the great detective who first discovers that in murder hunts, whether mock or real, everyone is playing a part.

Always so delighted when the narration is as great as the story. If you haven't heard any Agatha Chritie stories, you will love them.

Great story

I have loved Agatha Christie’s stories since I was a little girl. I think David Suchet has played Hercule Perot so well. It was wonderful to hear him read this book and play out the characters.

David Suchet is wonderful!

David Suchet is remarkable and adroit. Each and every one of his characterizations are brilliant!

Brilliant

The plot is convoluted but hearing Suchet voicing the different characters it is like watching it on TV.

Suchet does an awesome job

Suchet excellent as usual, but too many characters to wade through. Middle of story dragged.

David Suchet is the definitive Poirot, so full marks there; the mystery itself is not very interesting, unfortunately.

Great performance, not the most compelling Christie

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't rate this as one of my favorite Poirot adventures but David Suchet brought the characters to life with such flair that I chuckled repeatedly over the variety of personalities he created with Christi's talent. It was a jolly listen.

Christie and Suchet - Jolly Well Done

This is one of my favorite Poirot mysteries —it keeps you guessing up until the very end. David Suchet does an excellent job of narrating, although some of his female voices are a bit over the top. Overall a wonderful audiobook. Highly recommend.
