About this listen

Whilst organising a mock murder hunt for the village fete hosted by Sir George and Lady Stubbs, a feeling of dread settles on the famous crime novelist Adriane Oliver. Call it instinct, but it's a feeling she just can't explain...or get away from.

In desperation she summons her old friend, Hercule Poirot - and her instincts are soon proved correct when the "pretend" murder victim is discovered playing the scene for real, a rope wrapped tightly around her neck.

But it's the great detective who first discovers that in murder hunts, whether mock or real, everyone is playing a part.

Great story

Always so delighted when the narration is as great as the story. If you haven't heard any Agatha Chritie stories, you will love them.

Great story told by a great narrator

I enjoyed this Christie novel - it was fun and unexpected and kept me guessing. David Suchet is a wonderful narrator.

David Suchet is wonderful!

I have loved Agatha Christie’s stories since I was a little girl. I think David Suchet has played Hercule Perot so well. It was wonderful to hear him read this book and play out the characters.

Suchet does an awesome job

The plot is convoluted but hearing Suchet voicing the different characters it is like watching it on TV.

Suchet excellent as usual, but too many characters to wade through.

A great Agatha Christie

I have read lots of Agatha Christie novels as they are pretty dependable as a good read. This was one of my favourites. Very enjoyable with some good, unexpected twists. Highly recommended.

Murders come in threes.

David Suchet delivers this tale with absolute perfection. While Poirot vanishes from the story telling for large chunks of the novel, the other characters draw you down the pathway until you are quite lost. Fortunately, the Belgian detective reappears and leads you back. The clues are all in plain site, but puzzling them together makes for all the fun.

Wonderful narrator, intriguing mystery

Truly remarkable performance by the renowned David Suchet, as he creates different voices and accents for a wide cast of characters. Much of the action takes place on a summer day on a country estate in England.
