About this listen

It had been a typical New Year's Eve party. But as midnight approaches, Mr. Satterthwaite - a keen observer of human nature - senses that the real drama of the evening is yet to unfold. And so it proves when a mysterious stranger knocks on the door. Who is this Mr. Quin?

Mr. Satterthwaite's new friend is an enigma. He seems to appear and disappear almost like a trick of the light. In fact, the only consistent thing about him is that his presence is always an omen - sometimes good, but sometimes deadly....

Wonderful performance, as always, by Hugh Fraser, but the stories were a little bit predictable.

Great performance, somewhat predictable stories.

Though Poirot and Miss Marple are probably two of the most beloved characters in Christie's Works. However, the lesser known Harley Quin definitely has an equal (albeit unconventional) power of solving crimes. Mr. Quin, like another pair of Christie's sleuths Tommy and Tuppence, is so not your average private detective. There is an air of mystery about him, yet he is so personable that you'd like to just sit and talk with him like a friend. And it is in doing so, that the truth reveals itself.

As always, Hugh Fraser does a wonderful job in giving a vivid performance. The exchanges between Mr. Satterthwaite and Mr. Quin are the highlights of this audiobook.

An Intriguing Character

Agatha Christie does not disappoint, another peculiar little character to unravel the gnarled situations of folks around him. In some cases, he even prevents premature death with the inspiration of his mentor. Every chapter is a complete story; very entertaining.

I applaud this story. Mr Quin was an absolute delight and the stories were all different, yet familiar.
One of my favorites of A. Christie and the narration was excellent!

What a unique way to tell the mystery of life!

Mr Quinn is an awesome character, who appears to teach and guide with compassion

So many different well drawn characters Christie is so under appreciated. She could have been like Sherlock Holmes but her protagonists don’t usually need chases or fist fights

Sentimental romantic atmospheric plots with relatable characters

Hugh Fraser has a very relaxing voice with great timber and inflections. He creates each character individually. I just wish there were more Harley Quin stories for him to peform. I like his interpretations but I love the character of Mr. Quin. Thank you Audible...

Wish there were more Quin stories.

This was a production from Agatha Christie that I was not aware of. All though it is a fantasy, It has many Realistic Episodes And situations. I don't feel that It is attempting To be Factual, but it is entertaining.

A real fantasy. I enjoyed it greatly.

As a long time fan of Agatha Christie's writing i decided on a whim to buy the mysterious Mr. Quin without reading the the synopsis or even listening to the sample, after all this was read by Hugh Fraser, a man of reading the phone book making it sound appropriate.

The Stories were absolutely stunning, seeing the events appear through the eyes of Mr. Satterswaite a culmination of every literary sidekick ever put to paper. He is much more a man of action than he is even admitting to himself, the eponymous Mr Quin, is actually only appearing in very few lines of the book, but his impact is marvelously felt on every page. I don't want to spoil anybodies enjoyment by spoiling details about the plot, but Agatha Christie does what she always does best, dazzle you with surprises that had been laid out very clearly from the beginning.

I'm not a fan of Miss Marple, but I love Hercule Poirot, but even the great detective is only second Fiddle in comparison to the mysterious Mr. Quin.

superb

Wasn't familiar with this when we started. Overarching theme but can listen in parts.
Listened on a long car ride, I found it fun, daughter was a little lost because wasn't expecting the short story or the odd paranormal twist.

Good series of short stories
