About this listen

Blood is said to be thicker than water, but what happens when the blood runs cold?

Every family has their fair share of problems, and Ivory Stevans’ family is no exception. When Ivory’s father goes missing for 11 agonizing days, all hell breaks loose, and the bonds that keep Ivory Stevans' family together are tested. Secrets come to light, betrayal surfaces, and trust is destroyed.

Just when the family thought they had time to mend relationships and right their wrongs, time betrays them. Now, with Ivory’s family destroyed, it’s too late for shoulda, woulda, couldas. They’ll just have to take their differences to the grave.

A MUST…

Debut Author Ebony Evans Tells an Emotional Story of Finding One's Way. Her first novel Dead To Me is an unapologetic and emotionally charged journey of self-discovery as the main character, Ivory Jones navigates a world that is falling apart around her. Despite the chaos, Ivory manages to find herself in the end.

Initially, I was skeptical of the title, but after reading the book it made my eyes misty as it pulled at my heart. The story is full of lies, deceit, abuse, abandonment, and longing. However, it is also a tale of love, strength, perseverance, support, and acceptance.

Ivory Jones is going through a rough patch in her life. Death metaphorically and physically surrounds her, abandonment has left her alone wanting and needing, confusion has her questioning everything and everyone around her, while worry, anger, and grief has caused her to become undone as she struggles to accept losing one of the most important people in her life that filled her heart with joy. Her mother and brother treat her terribly, but Ivory's husband Charles is her rock, always there to support her when she needs it and him most. This man deserves a metal!

This story is a must-read. It has everything from secrets and lies to mental abuse and abandonment, all wrapped up in a suspenseful mystery. Evans' storytelling ability and her depictions of animosity, mistrust, hurt, and pain are incredibly realistic. She portrays a broken family that never healed due to jealousy, pride, hurt, secrets, lies, and an inability to communicate. The characters feel personal and very real, leaving a lasting impact on the me. Overall, I would definitely read this story again and eagerly anticipate the next book from this talented author.

The narration was nothing short of AH-MA-ZING. Nicole Small; Don Alexander and Shakira Ayer performed the heart, passion and emotion into these characters. This is an absolute must listen.

A Page Turner for Sure!!!

This was such a beautiful read with a few twists and turns. I loved how well the narrators flowed with the book; I also loved how immediately the book sucked me right in from the very first page. I worked a 12 hour shift last night and listening to this audio made most of my shift go by so darn fast. I wish this wasn’t a stand alone, because I would love a part 2 in continuation of this book, but since it ended on a closed note and everything pretty much answered, I’ll just look for other great books from this author instead. You will not be disappointed!!!

Engaging Book that touched a lot of important topics

I honestly wasn’t expecting much. I thought it was a pretty decent story with great messaging weaved throughout. I like the story in the characters, but I did feel like something was missing. The story never really climaxed. No big reveal no plot twist - what we thought was going to happen the whole book is actually what happened every time.

The book is a therapeutic mystery with a love story intertwined. The narration was good. By the end, I was in awe. I need more.

Ehhh

Honestly ivory seems very naive for her adult age, then she had me so confused on if her mother and brother actually passed away. I love Nicole small as a narrator but this book is just ok it’s a decent read.

🙌🙌🙌🙌 10 10

As always Nicole Smalls did her thing. I just want to say this book was so beautiful, it was full of emotion, full of passion. So many roller coasters of emotions that you go through when you lose somebody and she embodied them all in this book. Great job!!

Great performance

To be honest, I couldn’t wait until the book was over! Ivy act like she didn’t understand death.. to be fair I guess most people don’t. I would think as a grown-up you understand people aren’t going live forever. It really gave me the sign cancer vibes which is triggering to me. I’m a Sagittarius. Lol. The whining, wanting to be accepted, wanting enclosure was driving me crazy!!! I think this book is great for people who can’t accept that people are who they are & some/ most are not willing to change. for me..I have no problem with detaching myself therefore they would’ve been really “DEAD TO ME!” OVERALL great read! Nicole small is one of my favorite narrators, but in this story, they all did their thing!!!!!
