About this listen

Human trafficking is all around us, but when it touches those close to Tom Dugan, he helps his friends deliver their own style of justice.

A phone call. A common enough event, sometimes welcome, sometimes annoying, but seldom life changing. Or so we assume. But assumptions are dangerous things, and the reality is we all live one phone call away from disaster. One cheerful ring away from news of a tragic accident. One muted buzz from learning a lifetime of memories have disappeared in a raging house fire.

And so it is for Tom Dugan, rolling though the London night, the woman he loves in the taxi beside him. Life is good by any measure - until his phone rings, alerting him to the arrival of two old Russian friends with a very big problem.

Dugan's attempts to help his friends rescue an innocent girl from the Russian mob plunge him into a world he'd scarcely imagined, endangering him and everyone he holds dear. A world of modern day slavery and unspeakable cruelty, from which no one will escape, unless Dugan can weather a deadly crossing.

Yay! So go the 3rd book into the water!

I got this for free for a honest review, and that is what you get: Honesty.

Human trafficking is a really really interesting topic. Tom Dugan comes and tries to save the world again. There is something when you have a book in a series (That really are not a series), and the book number 1 and 2 are sooo good as the books from R.E. McDermott. Then i always feel a danger of reading book 3, but fair not: This book is as good as book 1 and 2! R.E. McDermott gives you another story filled with action! Todd Haberkorn needs some nice words too, he is amazing and fits this book,as he fitted the 2 first ones, i feel ready for book 4 when that comes!

GREAT THRILLER WITH AN UNANTICIPATED CONSEQUENCE

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Once again McDermott has created a fast-paced thriller filled with twists and turns. And the unexpected beneficial effect is that I found myself walking longer to hear more of the book.

And, there were times when I was tempted to open my hardcopy book to return to the story faster.

An inside look into the dark and dangerous world of smuggling and exploitation of dangerous cargo, sometimes drugs, sometimes people. Written with an eye to detail, you I am positive you will enjoy the nuances of the encounters with the bad guys.

Innocent young girls. Ruthless Russian mobsters. A middle-aged former CIA agent. What more could you want.

A Cliffhanger.....a great performance!

What made the experience of listening to Deadly Crossing: A Tom Dugan Novel the most enjoyable?

More realistic than a lot of other stories. The characters were fully developed and easy to follow.

What did you like best about this story?

Fast paced, easy to follow storyline, but there were some surprises.

Have you listened to any of Todd Haberkorn’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First one, I think he is the best narrator that I have heard. He has commend of many voices and styles. He made the story exciting to listen

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Hated to see it end. Held my attention from beginning to end. I have already downloaded another Dugan audiobook.

Any additional comments?

One of the best audiobooks that I have listened. Tom Dugan is a realistic hero, that is often at odds with his friends and the authorities. The story unfolds with precision, retaining the listener’s attention. There is an interesting twist that keeps you guessing. The narrator is the best I have heard, with command of wide range of characters that makes for nail biting listening.

It did not disappoint.

After listening to Deadly Straits, I downloaded Deadly Crossing immediately, not realizing that it was book 3 in the Tom Dugan series. But I also read the these stories are great stand alone and found that to be true so far. I will now move onto Deadly Coast.
