Publisher's summary

Alaska - the final frontier?

When Clara Avery, an entertainer working on the Fate, an Alaskan cruise ship, goes to nearby Bear Island, she comes across a scene of bloody mayhem. She also comes across Thor Erikson, who will soon be a member of the FBI's elite paranormal unit, the Krewe of Hunters.

Thor's been sent from the Alaska field office to investigate several grotesque killings, with the dead posed to resemble the victims of notorious murderers. The prime suspect is a serial killer Thor once put behind bars. The man escaped from a prison in the Midwest, and all the evidence says he was headed to Alaska.

Thor and Clara share an unusual skill: the ability to communicate with the dead. Their growing love - and their contact with the ghosts of the victims - brings them together to solve the case...and prevent a deadly fate of their own!

Excellent, however the last hour was sloppy.

Old buddy Luke did an excellent job with his voice work. Thank gawd there was no California surfer voice I absolutely hate. The story had me hooked until the last 70 something minutes. The main killer went out with a whimper. The 2nd killer totally didn't have to pull the crap on the island. Could have just road off into the sunset having been apart of this mess but with a clean break. There's more but I don't want spoil the main bad guys. Clara was an idiot at times from opening the cabin doors, to driving off to meet a so called friend without telling Thor or Jackson. The main killer was pretty much trapped on the ship and wouldn't have time to mutilate the body, or display it like a Disney character with local and Federal servants flooding the ship. So the last 70 minutes had my eyebrows arched with WTF moments. Overall I enjoyed the story until the none sense writing towards the end. A 3.5 rounded up to a 4 in my opinion.

Old lady

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend this audiobook to all because the story and the characters are well written.

What did you like best about this story?

The interaction between the two main characters.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

Thor and Jackson are my favorite character. The only thing I did not like is when Luke Daniels do the women’s voice it sounds like an old lady talking.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not a another walking dead.

Any additional comments?

Luke Daniels should learn to do women’s voices.

Highly Recommend!

What I am so impressed with is the narrator, Luke Daniels, who reads every Krewe book! He remembers the voice of past characters and uses the dialects from all around the country and globe! He does an excellent job distinguishing between male and female! An enjoyable book!

I'm Invested, but...

I've been following this series and feel I'm invested but have not liked many of the last 8 or 9 books. I live in Alaska so it was a no-brainer to get this one, but geez...the dialogue was...who wrote this?

I have most of this series and some from before the Krewe and they were good.
In this book, after two days, who says, "I will protect you with my last breath?" PHALEEEZ.

I did not like the female lead, smart mouth, again, dialogue. She was a so so character in the last book. Definitely did not deserve her own book.

The author obviously is not into writing any more of these, it's as though her publisher is pushing deadlines at her. I think I'm done, though. If I need a Krewe "fix" I'll listen to some of the older ones, The Unholy, The Uninvited, The Unspoken. Reminding myself of the effort Ms. Graham put into those books, I feel I wasted my money on this book.

Not too me of the best.

Overall it was hokey… even for escapism. Perhaps it was the narrator whose characters all sounded wooden and stereotypic. It sounded like he was reading for cartoon characters in a scene where the hero rescues the damsel from being tied to railroad tracks by the villain. A great narrator can make average material better. In this case, the narrator made average material simply silly.
