Crazy about series

Terrific narration. Question, does Texas not issue marriage license? Only problem I had why no one looked up Mimi's to find our intended's name. I am moving into next book now.

Best story!

I love listening to psychic eye and the characters. This is the best story yet. I kept finding time to keep listening. Great performance except for the voice of Bryce who needs to be more masculine.

Abby and Dutch are heading toward the altar

I loved this book! Finally Abby and Dutch are heading toward the altar. Unfortunately they run into about every problem a wedding ever had, plus a few more. Abby and Dutch very much want to marry, but so many people become involved in either planning the wedding or carrying it out, that pandemonium ensues. Top it all off with Abby’s feelings of physical dread, and we must wonder if this is going to happen at all.

The first clue that this wasn't going to go off without a hitch was also what kept it from five stars in my opinion. Early in the book and throughout, we got the events occurring from 2 hours counting down toward zero interspersed with events in order. In both the print and audio versions (unabridged), the differentiation between the present told by Abby in first tense and the countdown sections told in third person point of view by an unknown narrator were not differentiated from each other well enough. These future sections spilled clues as to what was going to happen throughout. I won't share any, but I felt as if I were being given spoilers every so often.

The overall story has Abby Cooper, psychic intuitive and civilian profiler to the FBI working with her partner and best friend, private investigator Candace Fusco. They are trying to figure out who is killing brides. The FBI agents get to the same case after they process many scenes they eventually attribute to the same guy.

When Abby and Dutch moved to Texas for their FBI jobs, several of their friends and colleagues moved as well. We sort of picked up and moved them all within 6 months of each other to the same town. When Dutch buys property to build a house for Abby, he hires Abby’s old handyman now contractor to build it. General contractor Dave keeps waiting for Abby to stop by to choose all her colors, floors, furniture, fixtures, appliances, etc. but she keeps putting Dave off. But not more so than Abby's sister Cat who has flown in to what morphs into her version of an elaborate wedding.

As the wedding approaches, Abby is filled with a sense of dread that has flooded her with fear that something will stop the wedding. Abby is so afraid for Dutch to be near her, since her fear involves physical danger to herself, and she doesn't want Dutch anywhere near that danger. He understands that fear from his own former cases, but Abby can't believe Dutch isn't furious. At the end, it does not turn out how Abby feared most but much the opposite. I doubt there will be many dry eyes at the end.

Inconsistencies, but great story

Fun series, great twisting story.

The narrator has gotten way better, but still doesn't do male voices well. She came up with a new voice for agent Harrison, after him being in 2 previous books, that doesn't fit his personality.

More inconsistencies: M.J. Who used to be Abby's best friend and partner, now seem like near strangers who haven't kept in contact. When Abby talks of her parents, they sound more abusive with each book.
Kat, Abby's sister, seems completely crazy and obsessed, with no reference to the great love and dependence they have on each other, or how they call each other daily, or how Abby has and does stand up to her, or how she mainly lives in Boston with her husband and young twins.

Despite it all, it was a fun romp.

Best in the Series

I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series, but this was my favorite listen.. As another reviewer eloquently put it, Abby is all grown up and the story line was more edge of your seat then most of the others in the series.. You don't have to read the entire series to enjoy this book, but the characters will make more sense if you do.

Outstanding!!!

I've read all of the Abby Cooper books and this has to be my all time FAVORITE! The story grips you from page one. Although I got frustrated with Abby for ducking all efforts to actually take charge and plan her own wedding it all resolved to a highly satisfying ending. This was an intricate, well thought out mystery that I could not put down! I salute Ms. Laurie for her skill with this book. Thanks for a GREAT read/listen!! :)

Great book except...

The voice of Bryce Harrison was awful!! This is supposed to be a commanding authority figure. Portraying him with a whiny wimpy voice was a terrible choice. The rest of the presentation was excellent.

Bryce

I don't know why the reader felt she needed to change Harrisons voice but that was hard to listen to..
