Publisher's summary

Deadwood meets Cthulhu in this wild and profane Western romp featuring zombies, werewolves, evil spirits, and one pissed-off gunslinging preacher.

The Wild West has never seen the likes of the Reverend Jebidiah Mercer, a hard man wielding a burning Bible in the battle between God and the devil, in an endless struggle he's not sure he cares who wins. With its five stories laced with fast-paced action, nonstop humor, and spine-tingling horror, Deadman's Road is your ride to hell, in which a vengeful shaman curses a town by conjuring a seemingly unstoppable army of the undead; an ill-advised shortcut leads to a bees' nest of terror; a man stands condemned, not for murdering his wife but for raising the Lovecraftian horror that killed her; a woman is attacked by werewolves and left for dead in a ghost town; and a mining camp faces off with a horde of cannibalistic fiends.

Any additional comments?

Some of the language and content is of an Adult nature and was a little crude but it was part of the story and not just for effect.

A good callback to the pulps

This book is a callback to pulpfiction stories and its a fine addition to Weird West genre. I loved the main character and their relationship with God. it made me chuckle, curious and sick all under 9 hours.

Good fun

Some really fun stories and the writing is really easy to follow its not pretentious though I think the narrator voice tends to blend together.

In Spite of the "Randy" Content - Entertaining

The forward by the author was a bit long, but it did helped me understand the stories better. Lansdale can write, and Rudnicki was perfect for this narration. There is a lot of "adult" content which sometimes got in the way of the stories. Still, as a long-time comic book fan and fan of weird westerns I can cut the author some slack on the adult content and horrible Christian theology.

Loved It

This book is well written and I really enjoyed listening to it. I am a big fan of Joe's and have read several of his books, as well as watching the Hap & Leonard series. I also thought that Stefan Rudnicki did a wonderful job narrating. This book was just the perfect combo of good story writing, great characters, and talented narrating that makes this book great.
