About this listen

In the field of country noir—the dark side of rural and small-town America—Lansdale staked his claim to East Texas with The Nightrunners. A '66 Chevy bears down on the countryside, with a carful of vicious teenagers and evil of Biblical proportions, in this terrifying morality tale of sex and violence.

Contains mature themes.

Nasty Nasty Nasty Bad Guys

I love Joe Lansdale's books, but this one was hard to listen to at times because of the obscenities people can perpetrate on others--and on animals. I actually fast-forwarded over one section because I knew what was coming and I didn't want to hear it. I am appalled by some of the horrors Joe's mind concocts--but in spite of that, the story held me. If you got this book looking for more Hap & Leonard stories, you won't them any here.

Another amazing Lansdale novel

This an earlier work, brutal and has an appearance from one of Lansdale’s most famous creations, but a must for crime and horror fans alike, and any Lansdale fan.

It was a relief when it ended

Huge disappointment. I usually enjoy Lansdale’s prose and characters. This book was just gratuitous and disgusting, with cheap language and shallow characters, while missing plot development or reader satisfaction. I was determined to stick it out & hoped the ending would make it worth the time. Sadly, the best thing about listening to this book was the relief when it ended.
