Beautifully written painful stories

I loved this short story collection. It's very wordy at times, sometimes distractedly so but most of the time it suites the story just right. Most of these have a dark edge to them; sometimes your surprised with a bit of humor, a nice touch. While dark, they weren't unbearably heart wrenching; they seem real, colorfully written and narrated in an understated way by Jennifer Ikeda.

Honestly, I originally purchased this book because Jennifer Ikeda narrated it but I flew right through it given how beautiful and endearing I found these stories. I am so happy I gave this little gem a go. Its provided quite a lovely journey.
