About this listen

From acclaimed author Sean Lynch comes the epic saga of Samuel Pritchard, a young man coming of age in the Civil War, riding tall with the Texas Rangers, and becoming one of the greatest gunfighters of his time...

The Legend Begins

In 1863, a teenaged boy fled his home in Atherton, Missouri, to escape the power-hungry men who murdered his father and stole his family’s land. He joined the Confederacy under an assumed name and led guerilla raids in the Civil War. Then came a decade as a Texas Ranger. Now, after ten blood-soaked years, he is finally coming home. Finally using his real name. And finally getting revenge against the cold-hearted devils who destroyed his family and his life...

This is the story of Samuel Pritchard. Now a small town sheriff with a long history of violence, a deep sense of honor, and wild streak of justice as dangerous as the guns that made him famous...

I wish the entire series were on Audible

it looks like there are four books in this series but only the first two are available as audiobooks. I hope Brilliance audio is planning on doing the other two. I thought it was an enjoyable and easy read even though Prichard seemed a little bit barbaric at times.

DEATH RATTLE

This book is as good as it gets. I loved everything about this story. There is very few books that I have enjoyed as much as this one. Starting out Samuel Pritchard looses his father and he kills a couple deputys. The crooked sheriff forces him to leave. Then it goes through several years of him in the war and joining the Texas Rangers. There's many adventures in both. He saves people that needs saving. Ditch is his best friend and he plays a big part in the story. Then he comes home and gets his revenge on the people that did him wrong. I can't say enough good about this. I started listening to it on a trip and didn't stop listening till it ended. There is four books about Samuel. The first two is on audio. The last two you have to read. I'll listen to the next one and read the last two. George Newbern does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Good, not great

The story was good if you like westerns, but was very predictable and unexciting. The narrator’s voice didn’t help bring the story to life either

Not a great western classic

Story was ruined by presentism or in other words not period western culture. The death rattle was over played and corny. Overloaded with violence and some gratuitous sex thrown in to help sell books I guess.
