About this listen

US Deputy Marshal Earl Crawford had just entered the office after returning from a typically Texan assignment where bullets flew like dirt in a twister. He hadn’t even hung his hat when the boss approached him about an even more dangerous mission, but only if he chose to accept the job.

Normally, he wasn’t given the choice, but in this case, even though he could have turned it down, he knew that he had to go. He would have to return to East Texas to track down a killer who had brutally murdered a young woman and her young son. What made it impossible to turn down was that murderer had been the dead woman’s husband and father to the boy. He was also Earl's brother.

Legendary Lawman

I really enjoyed listening to Hopewell! What a man, son and lawman, Earl was! Being a US Marshall and chasing after outlaws is his job. When he’s told by his boss that his own brother had killed his wife and six year old son Earl knew that he had to be the one to bring Carl back to justice.

This is a substantial listening experience in the time it is to tell Earl and Jesse’s story. Although the ending made me sad it was needed to complete their story.

At first I wasn’t sure if the narrator had a deep enough voice but as I listened and found out what kind of man Earl was it made perfect sense! Bravo! Wonderful story! Clean! And interesting!

Very rambling

The narrator sounds like he was made to read westerns aloud, I give him 4 stars but see some room for improvement.

The story isn't bad, but you never really feel any tension or actual danger. The story just kind of moseys along at a steady pace. Its not a bad story, I don't think its one you'll listen to over and over again. Lots of potential here it just goes untapped.

Another great story

I just finished my sixth book by CJ authored by Michael White. Again, 2 months ago I would have never listened to anything that was in the western genre. But these books are so much fun and I love them. I can't wait for the next one thank you guys again Diane

True love from beginning to end.

I enjoyed the storyline. It captured my attention from the first line and held it to the end.

Decent western

For the majority of the story, it was an action packed western with a romance that went along very well with the actions. The ending, however, was pure romance. So sad that modern westerns had to focus so much on the roof romance instead of the action.

Unlikely people

Get real. No U S Marshal is as calm, kind spoken or sweet as Petits Blue eyed Blonde characters. Same eyes, same silly dialog with his medical description of every bullet.

This audio version is edited

The story has been edited from the written version. Not sure why but it detracts from what should be a five star review.
Very disappointing.
