Publisher's summary

Friend or foe, stay out of their way!

Malaria can’t slow them down. A stockade can’t keep them penned up. Tanks can’t stop them. They’re the most blood-hungry platoon of killers in the jungle. The enemy fears them. Their own army hates them. But friend or foe, when they’re on their red-meat rampage of terror, you’d better steer clear of...The Rat Bastards.

Editorial reviews

Death Squad: The Rat Bastards is the second book in Len Levinson's action-packed men's adventure series. In scenes dripping with gore and slithering with snakes, Death Squad follows a platoon of outcast soldiers in the South Pacific during World War II. Most of the platoon's members - including a certified lunatic, a racketeer, a bank robber, an Apache warrior, and a movie stuntman - would be in jail or the psych ward if they weren't in the Army, and the soldiers' personalities clash in memorable ways. Levinson's vivid writing brings the scenes alive, and performer Ray Porter does a superb job capturing the soldiers' regional accents. Recommended for fans of tough-guy war fiction, and anyone who enjoys blood, guts, and explosions.

Pot boiler done well.

Narration is in every respect superb, which is one expects from ray porter.

Combat story is familiar but nonetheless great fun.

It is refreshing to listen to a Guadalcanal story based an army rather than marine warriors.
