Publisher's summary

I have no idea who I am anymore.

In Los Angeles, I would have given anything to go home to Orenda, my world where magic was alive and nature spoke to me. Now that I'm back I feel out of place, burdened with responsibility. The human part of me misses the simplicity of Earth, the mage part begs for connection with magic, and the demon part? I don't want to admit that exists.

As the darkness inside me grows, I'll learn to sacrifice for the greater good, as my people have always done. In order to save my family (both mage and human alike), I must face my nightmare, embrace the demon, and descend into the shadowy world of my enemy - the Hell of the Damned.

Once there, I will have nothing left to fear but myself: Edmund Gavel, human, mage, demon... maybe monster.

Extraordinary fantasy book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a sequel to the audiobook “Death of The Body“ and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. There were no parts where I was bored or had to skip chapters, like I had to, with many other audiobooks. This is a dark fantasy, with a nicely designed plot, many twists and turns and a likeable protagonist, that kept my suspense to the last word. Definitely a must-buy for all the owners of the first book in the series!

Even better than the first one!

Where does Death of the Spirit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Rick Chiantaretto is an extremely creative author who has a very special gift to structure his ideas and thoughts into a great book. In my opinion fantasy genre, beside sci-fi sagas in space, is the most difficult and demanding for authors. In this audiobook you will shift between different worlds, meet different creatures, have many unexpected twists, struggling to predict what is going to happen next. I am really looking forward for the next book in the series, and highly recommend this one as an excellent “read”.

A beautiful adventure

Would you listen to Death of the Spirit again? Why?

The author made a fascinating story filled with many details that draw me into it, from the first to the last sentence. The characters are nicely developed and Edmund, the protagonist, is likeable. The narration of the audiobook is very well performed, which is very important to me because I am not a native English speaker.
Overall, a great dark fantasy book that will inspire its listeners and make them wanting for more!
