About this listen

Vulkan lies in state beneath the Fortress of Hera, and yet many of his sons still refuse to believe that he is truly dead.

After a seemingly miraculous rescue by the Ultramarines, Artellus Numeon, once captain of the Pyre Guard, urges the other Salamanders on Macragge to leave Imperium Secundus and return their primarch's body to the home world of Nocturne - there to be reborn in the flames of Mount Deathfire. But Numeon grapples endlessly with his doubts and fears for the future of the Legion while their foes seek to carve out new destinies of their own....

I really liked how Nick Kyme properly conveyed how harrowing the Salamanders' pilgrimage was. Had me on the edge of my seat.

Riveting!

Wonderful journey by the Salamander skeleton crew to revive what was left of their legion and legacy.

Vulkan Lives! And yet…

I love the Salamanders and all of their lore and their faith in Vulkan is one of my favorite aspects of 40K, but if I hear Vulkan lived one more time and how much the main character believes he will come back again I may not read another HH novel again. Over all the story is good but some of the story is quite repetitive. The book could have been shorter with a bigger impact if that had been minimized.

Great narrator, so so story

Aaaaaaa yessss!!!!

kind of annoying how often it sets two people up to fight, both constantly described as beasts of combat and yet it's over in about 2 blows. other than that a good story

Great but...

The plot was really slow, Kyme’s writing style is dry and full of unnecessary details. The slow plot was exacerbated by Reichland’s ponderous narration. The only saving grace is the ending of the book, and the information about Vulkan and the Salamanders

Interesting continuation of the Vulkan saga
