This Horus Heresy anthology contains eighteen short stories by authors such as Graham McNeill, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Nick Kyme, and many more. Also, Chris Wraight’s acclaimed novella Brotherhood of the Storm delves into the nature of the elusive White Scars Legion, and their questionable sense of duty to the Emperor.

Continues to be captivating

Enjoyed all of it. However the multiple short story novels of the series I do enjoy less that a single focused story. Regardless I would recommend.

Fun read. doesn't necessarily move the story forward but fun to hear more about some fan favorites from previous books.

More drudging.

The Horus heresy series is really drudging along at this point. Multiple anthology books that don’t advance the heresy story, several stories go back in time and that is absolutely annoying. It’s good to check in with some of the past characters that we haven’t heard from in a while but compared to some of the stories in the books 20-30 section of the series this is just a lot of words.

Lot of good and a bit of meh

These anthology books are always a nice breather between heavier stories, but it can also suck to see stories that go nowhere. However there is a good amount of prequels and sequel stories that give more love to previous and future plots and side plots. I'm a bit of a completionist so I listen to each story but if one isn't your vibe, then just skip it.

A breath of fresh air

The previous book was so bad that I felt I didn’t want to consume 40k stories as voraciously as before

This book renews my vigor in many ways. It moves the plot forward, respects your time, and was masterfully performed by all of its narrators

Truly wonderful

Hardest one to Get Through

I felt like there were far too many stories and too few of them felt like they had importance in the large scale story.

Some great stories mixed with questionable ones

First things first, all of the narrators and all of the stories that are more than 15 minutes in length are excellent. Highlights include Censure and Brotherhood of the Storm. The problem lies within the REALLY short stories, the ones coming in at 10 minutes or less. Basically the issue is why do they exist? They're all too short to really tell us anything, and they're barely long enough to warrant it's own chapter in a full-length novel. One of the stories is literally:
Salamander: Hey, can we get a ride?
Iron Hand: Sorry, no.
Salamander: Pretty please:
Iron Hand: *sigh* ok fine.
That's it! Was that really worth it's own story to be narrated?

Better than advertised

I found the first story about the White Scars to be surprisingly moving. Also loved the story of Riven and a few of the others. Overall I liked this much better than I expected.
