About this listen

When demons threaten Regency London, only a Lady can stop them…

Lillian Dellacourt is beautiful, refined, and absolutely lethal. She’s also the most feared and merciless demon hunter in The Company. She’s come a long way from the penniless seamstress’ daughter sold to the highest bidder, and it wasn’t by trusting a man, let alone an exiled Marquis with more on his mind than slaying the hellspawn…

For Dorian Lambert, Marquis de Montlambert, being sent to keep track of Lillian is no mean task. He’s wanted the fiery vixen since he first heard of her five years ago. But wooing the lady while fighting the demon uprising is difficult, especially when the lady’s tongue is as sharp as the Japanese sai blades she favors for the hunt.

These two will have to learn to trust each other fast, because the demon master is back, and he’s planning to turn Edinburgh into a living hell…

Fascinating!

Lillian Dellacourt is a beautiful woman, refined yet feisty, who also happens to be a lethal demon hunter. Dorian Lambert, Marquis de Montlambert, is sent by the Company to keep an eye on her which is a double-edged sword. He knows she's a force to be reckoned with in the world of demon hunting and he's been attracted to her since he first heard of her talents. The signs are all there that the master is coming back, along with his denizens of hell, and Dorian and Lillian need to trust their fellow hunters, and themselves, to keep London safe. The actual hunt is fascinating, surprising and rather sad, but everything comes full circle for Dorian and Lillian. Aria Holland and Piers Ryaman do a terrific job with the narration. From their well-modulated voices, intonation, pace and spot-on accents, they bring each of the characters to life.

Great story

This is book 2 in the series, but can be treated as a standalone. The trope is basically:girl doesn't think she is worthy of perfect guy's love. The heroine is a kick-@** fighter whom we met as a secondary character in book 1. This book has a couple of explicit love scenes so skip those if you must but stay for the plot and romance. The female narrator does a much better job with all the voices than the male narrator. He makes the H sound whiney. Luckily, the female narrator narrates most of the book.

Enjoyed this book

The voices “fit” the characters and time period and make the unusual historic paranormal twist work well. I look forward to the rest of the series.
