About this listen

Recent college graduate Sierra Lopez has no idea what she wants to do with her life. With a degree that’s useless on its own, Sierra decides to complete a one-year master’s program at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Alone in a new city, Sierra downloads Tinder, expecting to go on a few casual dates during her study of human aging and fragility.

But then she meets the mysterious and brooding Aodhan De Thuaidh, who doesn’t seem to be at home in Dublin either. When he’s 30 minutes late for their first date, however, Sierra writes him off as just another jerk, intending never to see him again.

Except Aodhan keeps showing up. First around campus, then at a bar, and during Sierra’s work hours at the campus library. He claims it’s just a chance they keep running into each other, which annoys Sierra to no end, but something about Aodhan just isn’t adding up…Hope. E Davis’s Demure is a spicy NA fantasy novel for fans of Twilight who no longer want to read about teenagers and who enjoy the fantasy worlds built by Sarah J. Maas and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Ooohhhh my gosh! Okay, so first of all.. the Irish accents in this were totally swoon-worthy. The performances by both narrators were amazing and it being in a duet style really brought Sierra and Aodhan off the page. Can’t wait for Bold!!

LOVED this as a duet!!

Really enjoyed the story. Went in completely blind, so there were a few surprises for me which I really liked. The performance from both narrators was excellent and really gave the characters “character”!

Great listen!

I’ve had the privilege of narrating a book for Hope E. Davis so I knew she was an excellent author. Sure enough she weaves another captivating and unexpectedly unfolding story.
The main character is at odds with her family, not seeing eye to eye with their beliefs and their ways. So she not only leaves the state to go to college, she leaves the country. She really doesn’t know anyone here but does her best. It’s not that she left any close friends behind anyway. She tries to date some but even that leaves a lot to be desired. But one of her worst, and shortest dates, is about to change her life forever. Opening her up to a world she didn’t even know existed.
As a narrator myself, I’m particularly interested in the performance of other narrators and listen not only for my enjoyment but also to learn and improve my own craft. Of course, some are better than others. Let me just say that Molly Briar and Caesar Esturco, who co-narrate this book, are absolutely the cream of the crop! They truly bring this excellent story alive in such a captivating and enjoyable way.
Not only will I look for more books written by Hope E. Davis, but I will also look for more books narrated by Molly Briar and Caesar Esturco, either individually or together as here.
