About this listen

If Jess Stark really knew what was on the other side of the coffin lid, he might just decide to remain six feet under…. Jess stayed away from Palm Springs for seven years, avoiding his family and the girl who broke his heart. It took a desperate call from his mother to force him home to see his ailing father. As soon as he was back, Jess found himself embroiled in two suspicious deaths, emotional turmoil with his family, and a supernatural secret that involved them all. The best Welcome Home he received? Winding up in an unmarked grave in the middle of the Coachella Desert.

In a tale that spreads from the California Desert to the jungles of Mexico and a town that time has practically forgotten, Descending Son is rooted in the sins of Jess's past and a future that threatens his life. Sure, Jess can go home again, but there's a heavy price to pay.

Descending Son

A strong B. Excellent narration. I was happily shocked. I knew nothing about the book. Thought it would be a nice drama for a Saturday afternoon, then it changed on me. Early on it changed from this well written drama to fantacy suspense. I could not put the book down to make dinner. Thank you.

Easy listen

I liked that it was pg rated. The narrator was great. The story was good but predictable. Enjoyable enough to mow 4.5 acres of lawn to. It would be a good trip listen.

Unexpected

What made the experience of listening to Descending Son the most enjoyable?

It was a good story and a good reader

What did you like best about this story?

The plot did thicken as it went on

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?

The father

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

It would have been nice to know that it was eventually a sci-fi book. I don't typically like those types of books and I really thought this book (based on the summary) was a regular book about human characters instead of ghouls

waste of time. Stupidly profane and vulgar.

Premise is interesting. But turns to a ridiculously salacious ribald scifi mess. Sorry I ever started listening
