About this listen

All he ever wanted was to go home.

Leaving his life as a noble hostage behind him, Gryff has fled from one danger to another, never safe, always longing for a forbidden return to his conquered Welsh homeland. Held captive by villainous men, his unlikely savior is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen - and the most deadly. Her silence is unnerving, her generosity unexpected, and her pointed warning that she will not be an object of lust is perfectly clear.

Nan has no doubt the ragged Welshman she has saved from certain death was born to better things, far different from the servant’s life she’s led. Though the last thing she wants is a companion on her journey to find her cherished sister, she is compelled to help the man with haunted eyes and a mysterious past. But she feels the pull of his fascination every instant, and her own unexpected desire soon takes them places neither could have foreseen.

Great narration, strong story

I love this series. I love the strong personalities and character growth and the adventure and history. There aren’t many books written from this complex political time period and fewer still from a mostly Welch perspective.
Desire lines is a bit slower paced - it is a “road” story and they are walking! Listening to it rather than reading might help those who prefer faster paced books.
I was concerned at one point that there wouldn’t be enough character growth to Gryff but he does gain gumption (which he needs!) and his patience also gains Nan’s trust. They are both deeply soul wounded and surviving in their own ways. It was lovely to see Nan relax, Gryff stand up, and both of them stretch themselves into trust and care.
I also liked catching up with characters from previous books.
I am looking forward to the next in this series.

Times of mortal turmoil

This was written so well, you found yourself trying to push the characters in a different direction. I read the book and I try to imagine Nicholas Bolton‘s voice in my head. But to no avail. To hear his rendering of Elizabeth Kingston’s book as a whole different level of excitement to it I love the whole book the narration and the storyline I would recommend it to all my friends

Loved it!!

I recommend all the books in this series for lovers of historical romance. Reading them in order, including the novella Nan, is best. Ms. Kingston manages to convey a realistic picture of medieval life while creating tales of strong women who take charge of their lives and support eachother. And who doesn't love Nicholas Boulton?

Excellent!

I’d already read and greatly enjoyed Desire Lines and was eager to try the audio version, which is very well done. In a story rich with Welsh names and words, hearing them smoothly and confidently delivered (much more so than my internal voice could do) added to the experience.

Beautiful story!

Desire Lines reads like an old fashion fairy tale, with clearly developed characters and a plot twist: the woman saves the man. Great narration. One of my favorite books. Highly recommend !

Disappointing

Nicholas Boulton is an amazing narrator and even he could not help this book. Storyline is boring and the gratuitous sex unnecessary. I could not finish this audible.

Laura Kinsale gave me a non helpful vote when E Kingston made her debut here on Audible and I gave her 5 stars and said the book sounded like LK had written it. Well feel free to do it again here Laura.

Not My Cup of Tea

I loved that the heroin was able to protect herself physically, but that was all.
