About this listen

In the dust and blazing heat of Helmand, the young men of 16 Air Assault Brigade find themselves in the most relentless battles faced by British troops in recent history. As the only writer to have unrestricted access to the front line, Sam Kiley is there to bear witness to the most intense challenges of their lives. Desperate Glory is an unflinching portrait of the reality of war.

Forgotten fight of the British Army in Helmand

A fantastic telling of the British Armies fight in Helmand province for the past 7 yrs. The British armies soldiers can be from any part of the commonwealth and Ireland, and this book shows the great bond that brings these men and women together for the safety of there queen and countryman. This book would be great for listeners from commonwealth countries, as many of there brothers pop up from time to time. I think that our US cousins should also have a listen, it may be the case that there forces don't appear massively in this book, I think it would interest them to take a trip into the arena of Helmand Province in the years before the Marine Corp joined, the Brits, Danes and Dutch dealing with the most dangerous area of Afghanistan. Sam Kiley is a great author who is usesually found presenting from dangerous war zones around the world for Sky News. Great listen.
