Publisher's summary

How far would you go for your family?

Financial struggles have forced Grace Rockwell, along with her husband and their baby daughter, back to the family homestead. Luckily, the move to the Bittersweet Hollow Morgan Horse Farm isn't all bad. Her sister Portia is there with her toddler son, and Grace soon finds a way to improve their finances - by entering riding competitions with her family's gorgeous horses.

But the homecoming takes a horrific turn when the babies are abducted, sending both new mothers on a frantic search with few leads.

Lollie Belvedere didn't plan to kill her husband. Nor did she know her adopted children would turn out to be kidnapping victims. But something in her snaps the day she's forced to return the babies to their mothers - and now she'll do whatever it takes to get them back.

Intense Family Drama

Devil's Spring is a dramatic tale of three generations living and working in Vermont. The cast of imperfect characters include an ex-drug addict and current shopping addict raising a newborn, a stubborn old farmer hiding his financial woes from his wife, and lots more. When the family matriarch takes her two grandbabies to modeling agency in a desperate bid for money, she is drugged and the babies kidnapped into a baby adoption ring. Then we meet new characters, some heroes, some deeply disturbed.

This reminded me of a soap opera, but without the bad acting! I couldn't look away as this family lived through crisis after crisis, including the nightmare kidnapping scenario. It was a bit slow to get into with all the different points of view and no clear driving force behind the plot at first, but by the halfway point, I couldn't put it down!

The narrator did a fine job too.

I recommend.

Another Really Good Audiobook!

This is the third book in the Bittersweet Hollow series and is really good! I liked how the characters were going through hard times, just like so many real people have in their lives. It was wonderful that they had each other to rely on and could come together. Just when I thought these families couldn't possibly go through any additional challenges, they became victims of a child trafficking ring. They are truly trouble magnets! The narrator does a fantastic job. The author, Aaron Paul Lazar, is a gifted writer. I connected with the characters and felt their emotions. I definitely would recommend this audiobook to others.

A very enjoyable series !

I have listened to all the books in this series and this book was the perfect ending to 2 families that have gone through many heart breaking issues. In this one we have some new characters and my goodness Lolly is something else. Rosita is the perfect cook, housekeeper and friend to Lolly. The main family's in this series have been blessed with babies but the excitement and pain is not over for them. I really enjoyed it and I also enjoy Gwendolyn Druyors narrations. I may just have to pick up one of her books and see what I think of her as a writer.
I received a free code for this book from Audiobooks Unleashed to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion

Another great story

I certainly hope this family gets some peace now. Who is next Ned? The story never has a dull moment. The narrator did a fabulous job. I think the best voice was Lolly's. I felt how deranged she was because of the narrator. I felt bad for her but at the same time loathed her. I enjoyed this series. Thumbs up.

Trouble aplenty for the Bittersweet Hollow clan

Buy this book now, but read the first two books in the series before dipping into this one, to get the full impact.

Lazar heaps yet more trouble onto the family of Bittersweet Hollow. The new characters he introduces are good ones, especially Lolly, a disturbed woman who turns predator to claim a kidnapped baby as her own, and Lolly's compassionate and savvy maid/companion, Rosa.
The story itself was a small notch below the first two in the series, mainly because the kidnapping threat began to feel overdone. And I had a few nitpicks, the biggest one being that the truth about Lolly's husband never came to light. Overall, though, Devil's Spring was a good read and a worthy continuation of the BH saga.

Gwendolyn Druyer is a marvelous narrator, nimbly portraying the various characters with distinctive voices. Except for a little too much John Wayne in Portia's husband's drawl, her accents and mannerisms were amazing.

For the record, I purchased this audiobook with a gift credit. I am under no obligation to post a review.

Missing children

Forced to go back to the family homestead, and finding ways of bringing in money when the children go missing. With more trouble they don’t need. Good mystery and plot.

Much better than first two

This was the best one in the series. More mystery and less sex. Characters were still pretty flat but the story plot was better. Still, how much can one family go through? At least Grace showed some redeeming qualities in this book.
