About this listen

His fiancée was the one woman he'd loved.

Her children are all he has left.

Reserved contractor Wade Sullivan never expected to fall in love with Starr Parnell or to love her three small kids as if they were his own. But that's exactly what happened. As their wedding draws near, however, tragedy strikes - and Wade must put aside his own grief in order to help Starr's children cope.

As Wade focuses his efforts on caring for the children, he discovers that their tender, young lives give tremendous meaning to his own broken one. Then Starr's abusive ex-husband shows up to claim the offspring who barely remember him - and Wade prepares for the fight of his life.

Will anyone believe his claim to love the children more than their father loves them?

A powerful novel of loss and discovery, courage, and grace, A Nest of Sparrows masterfully illustrates one man's struggle to know when to fight, when to let go, and when to simply wait.

Beautiful yet Realistic

This is a love story, but not a conventional one. It is a story that speaks to a parent’s love for a child, a friend’s love for a friend, and God’s love for all. The true sense of what family should and should not be is contained in Deborah Ramey’s words. This blows the conventional and expected out of the water and replaces it with the real and unexpected. The characters are filled with flaws and redemptive qualities. All of them. Fantastic snapshot of real life and how God weaves threads through our lives that only He could control. His plans are truly for our good. It’s just hard for us to see what that looks like from our tiny windows. Narration is exceptional.

A Nest of Sparrows

I love this book! The beginning made me sad, and I was unsure if I wanted to finish it, but it was an incredibly good book. Very well read by Julie Lancelot. she has such a wonderful way of making each character sound totally different, which makes it easier to follow the story. I liked the story of so many imperfect people coming to God and finding fulfillment. I wish it had been longer.

Wonderful heart tugging syory

The story was very engaging. my emotions got involved from the very beginning. I have listened to most of Deborah raney's books and have enjoyed them all. The person reading the story, Julie Lancelot, was very good. She made all the characters believable. You forgot that it was just one lady reading the story because she used different voices for each character. I would highly recommend this book.

Very Moving

I can't say I enjoyed it, but it touched my heart, deeply. The emotions and situations seemed real and I found tears of my own over Ward's story of love and loss. I waited a while to listen because I knew it would be a tear-jerker, but a very good listen.
