Dante DiLustro.
Persistent. Stubborn. Deadly.
The devil.

Juliette Brennan.
Tenacious. Beautiful. Formidable.
The minx.

She never expected his persistence, nor the way her body warmed each time the devil came around, which only made her fight the attraction that much harder.

She had vengeance to deliver and now there was blood on her hands. She had her secrets and she intended to keep them. Let the world think she was crazy, out of control. It made her real sins easy to hide.

One visit to Las Vegas sent it all spiraling to hell. There was a reason Dante was considered the Devious Kingpin.

But one thing was certain.

This Juliette didn’t need a Romeo and she certainly wasn’t a damsel in distress.

Book two of the Kingpin is more of what I thought this collection would be about, exciting, dangerous, revenge. However, each book is about a different friend and I don't care for those type of books. You're left feeling like the first story really didn't end and in prolog they jump 5 years ahead and it was sad. Could of been so much more with this story line. I will not be purchasing book 3 .

BIG IMPROVEMENT

Dante finally meets his forever love in the “unhinged” beauty Juliet. Their love is explosive, demented and bloodthirsty! They complement each other. I was quite sympathetic to their childhood plight. McKenzie Cartwright and Aaron Shedlock did a wonderful dual narration.

I love how Basilio finally just asked Dante what he could possibly see in Juliette! We all wanted to know! As always another great story in Eva Winners universe!! However, second time through I realized why Juliette is my least favorite FMC, her character doesn’t make sense. For one thing, the fact that she acts as reckless as she does and apparently has tried having experiences with other men she’s the luckiest girl in the world. If someone acts as juvenile and pigheaded as she does she likely would’ve gotten assaulted more than just the one time. Many people act reckless after an attack like that, but most wind up being promiscuous as a way to trick themselves into being in control. But then she acts reckless up to the point of trying to sleep with other guys while drunk but she freaked out?!? Then there is the constant lying to herself while in her head she thinks she’s strong and bad ass even to the extent she claims her 6th sense that told her not to trust him. She had to run and cause issues with the final show down so the first group is 3v10 simply bc Kian knew that her immature ass would show up so he had to leave two people back who then had to spend half their energy guarding her. She spent her life holding on to that one bad experience and in her head it made her strong. Then she thinks she’s strong because she “had to deal with it on her own”. Ofc she didn’t, she could’ve told someone. She spends half her life acting like a 3 year old but in her head she’s FBI’s most wanted best criminal ever. It’s ridiculous. I get that some people exhibit some of these behaviors, but the lying to herself constantly and putting herself in danger is ridiculous. And at the end when she says “would’ve been nice to date first” anyone who’s ever met her would know she NEVER would’ve dated him. Not because she didn’t want to, but because she’d rather be miserable than think about anyone but herself. She never asked any questions about anyone else. A selfish toddler with a vivid imagination where she’s the main character in the fantasyland in her head. More important to maintain her fake character than to allow herself to have a real life.

Juliette is a lot! A lot a lot! On second listen a lot immature and weak.

This is book #2 of this series and I wish I could say I loved it but that is not the case. Book #1 had a better storyline even though I wasn’t a fan of the narration but this book was progressively worse. Terrible narration, it seems to drag on and MFC was just too annoyingly ridiculous. It ends with a HEA which is nice but certainly not enough good stuff to save this 🎧book. Is it worth a credit? That’s very easy to answer NO!

Juliette is such an likeable character, she is too difficult to connect with and I am saying this as someone who has gone through something similar. She took what happened to her and used it as an excuse to behave as the most unlikeable brat. Dante deserves better. Her friends and family deserve better. SHE deserved better. The author really missed it with this one. I couldn't even finish it and it had nothing to do with the subject matter and everything to do with Juliette's attitude. She's too old to be acting like a 2 year in need of a nap.

Juliet is too unlikeable
