About this listen

Abandoned in a library book-drop slot in the dead of winter, the small kitten who came to be known as Dewey Readmore Books miraculously endured the coldest night of the year. When librarian Vicki Myron found him in the morning, she wrapped him in her arms, gave him his first bath, and then introduced him to his new home: the library.

Dewey charmed Spencer, Iowa’s library-goers, young and old, with his ability to know just which visitors needed a friend. And as word of his heartwarming tail - or rather, tale - spread, Dewey gained worldwide fame as proof positive that one small cat could change a struggling town, one person at a time.

In this adaptation of the number-one New York Times best seller Dewey, everyone’s favorite library cat inspires a new audience of listeners with his story of courage, survival, and above all, love.

Wonderful story

As a cat lover, I enjoyed this book. Dewey was a special cat that (I believe) saved the town of Spencer Iowa.

Absolutely Amazing

This book is absolutely beautiful. Dewey's story has touched my heart forever. I love how Dewey was such a smart and hilarious cat, with a loving heart. I would recommend this to people who love to read and/or have a love for cats. Also people who don't mind crying...... 😭😭😭😭

Sweet story that will make you wanna have a cat!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dewey the Library Cat to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Yes, I would not humanize Dewey, I mean, the parts where the author pretends Dewey is talking as if he were saying something to her. I'd use more what I thought he was supposedly thinking.

Which scene was your favorite?

The one where he(Dewey) finally climbs on Cristal's wheelchair and for the first time in years, this handicapped girl is able to express something, she "squeals", as the author describes, in joy and she gets this expression on her face, it's like she finally was able to express something that has been inside her forever. It is amazing what that cat did for the people.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The one I mentioned above.
