About this listen

Holden and Peyton don't expect much from senior year. He probably won't manage to date any guys. She'll still pine over Juliette, the beautiful and unattainable cheerleader. But when they step between class bullies and Oliver, a super-hot transfer student, their year starts to go off the rails.

As a star football player, Oliver hadn't anticipated trouble. Turns out Pinedale High not only comes with bullies but with new friends, plus the ghost of a Civil War soldier and a shy naked guy in the library. Between the living and the dead, senior year is about to get interesting.

A Nice YA

this was a cute little YA, with nice characters and an interesting storyline I usually don't read or listen to, YA but it was Gabbi Grey, so i had to grab it and of course Michael Ferraiuolo always a pleasure to listen to.

Duncan, Willie, Holden, Peyton, Oliver, & Juliette

It is told in succession from each of the six main characters. Duncan is stoic. Willie is sweet and shy. Both are ghosts that can be seen by at least one living being. Holden and his best gal pal Peyton are true friends that stand together as the only two known queer kids at school. Oliver is the new kid on the block but having a black uncle makes him the target of some school bigots. Juliette is living under the pressure of perfection. Her parents expect great things from her, but she struggles to fit into their mold. I loved how these six came together to form a tribe. They give each other the support to find and live their true selves.

Very well titled

because I really didn't see this story coming. I loved the premise, I wasn't quite sure of the story going in and while it was so not what I was thinking it was better and I really enjoyed these characters, their stories (though at times sad), the interconnections and how it all played out. Ferraiuolo does a great job narrating all the characters. with 6 different POVS that's definitely saying something.

So Interesting and Fun!

I loved this story, enjoyed the relationships between all the characters (living and dead) and particularly liked all of the cultural aspects of the story! I have NEVER listened to an audiobook that had so many main characters with a single narrator and been able to hear each distinct voice! This was so fun and I learned so much along the way!

I Enjoyed It

I enjoyed this book. I actually didn't realize this was young adult when I started listening to it. I've either read or listened to almost two dozen of Gabbi Grey's books, and Michael Ferraiuolo is an insta-listen for me. But it quickly felt different from the norm- and I didn't mind it at all. The characters were interesting- especially the ghostly ones!- and I was soon engrossed. Great chemistry between Holden and Oliver, I liked the strength of the friendship between Holden and Peyton, Peyton's cute pining for Juliette, and the emotions of the two ghosts Duncan and Willie, who haunt the school grounds after they've died. They were my favorite!

Michael Ferraiuolo does an amazing job bringing each of them to life and giving them their own unique voice.

Amazing

Give me anything by the amazing Gabbi Grey and I'll either listen to it or read it. This one was different from the previous audiobooks I’ve listened to by Gabbi. Didn’t see you coming, is a story that follows high students in their journey of dealing with their sexuality and what they believe. I really enjoyed seeing that, but my favorite part is the ghost in this story. I’ve never listened to a story like this before. It was truly an enjoyable story, but what made this whole experience beyond amazing was Michael Ferraiuolo's voice. He did a wonderful job, bringing this story to life.

Impressive & Enchanting! Great Story & Narration🎧

Gabbi Grey never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful writing style and it is great to see another side of her brilliant mind with this fascinating novel, a young adult paranormal romance, a unique ghost story that is original. The story starts with two characters, Holden and Peyton, two friends who are high school seniors, and the challenges they face and the friends they make, including their romantic interests and a friendly ghost or two. Gabbi Grey captured the essence of being a young adult in high school, and she incorporated the ghosts into the story naturally and made it seem real. Next up is Oliver, the new kid in town, who not only caught Holden’s attention, but the attention of the school bullies. But the feisty Peyton steps in to put a stop to their bullying, with Holden at her side. Peyton has a thing for Juliette, and it was nice to see those two come together. Last but not least are the two ghosts, and I loved how they appeared and came into the story and it was great to learn more about them, and there was a nice twist for one of them too. This wonderfully written and plotted multi-layered story is captivating from start to end and has the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and sweet romance. Gabbi Grey, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying. He covered the roles of all the characters, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Ferraiuolo is an incredible voice artist and his talent and versatility truly shined in this book while voicing both the male and female characters, young and old. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. Ferraiuolo is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates this already fabulous story to another level.

Wonderful YA story!

I’ve loved everything I’ve read by Gabbi Grey and this story is no exception. I’m pretty sure this is the first YA/NA book I’ve read by her. I loved the diversity of the characters and how they handled uncomfortable situations they found themselves in.

Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance was perfect for this story. He has a wide range of character voices and each was easily distinguishable from the others.

I would definitely listen to/read more books like this one if Gabbi writes more. Highly recommend!
