About this listen

SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency's golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one slight, tiny, itty-bitty paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden, he's the agency's embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself - go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him.

Cold-case Detective Daniel McKenna's latest investigation is going nowhere fast. Five years earlier, high school student Amy Greene went missing after leaving her part-time job and was never seen again. Daniel is glad to finally have the FBI help his department requested, even if it does come in the form of his ex.

It doesn't help that Rain is pretty sure he's falling in love with Danny all over again - if he ever stopped. Add to that the frustration of seeing ghosts at every turn while he works a case that's stalled in its tracks, and Rain is starting to wonder if second chances and happy endings are just for fairy tales.

Loved, loved, loved! Please just give me more!

I fell in love with this book when I read it last year when it was first released. Ever since I've been hoping it would be released into audio so I could experience the magic once more. So to say that I was ecstatic when I saw that Tantor was going to release it, is putting it a bit mildly.

Dealing with ghosts isn't easy - something that SSA Rain Christiansen is well aware of - seeing as one particular ghost caused him to almost lose his job when trying to help him find closure. In a last attempt to save his career he's sent to Brickell Bay to assist in a cold case investigation into the disappearance of a high school student. The detective he's helping? Well that's none other than his ex; Daniel McKenna. An ex that he's not sure he ever stopped loving. But there's a lot of history and secrets that might just be enough to keep them from finding their way back to each other,

This time around I need to separate the story from the narration in order to make sense of it. So let's start with the story - I absolutely loved it, and everything about it. It drew me in from the start. I loved the feel to the book, the atmosphere Harmon created with her words. It felt real and genuine. And yes I do know that talking with ghost might not be construed as reality – well at least not mine, but this book still felt real to me. I believed in it. For me that's a sign of a great book.

Right from the start you could feel the chemistry between Rain and Danny. The struggles each of them were going through, the hurt and the longing. But underneath it all you could also feel the love they still felt and the hope that maybe this time tings would be different. That is, if the case they're working on doesn't drive them apart even more.

As for the narration.... Sadly I think I expected more from the audio version. The narration felt a bit lacklustre and uninspiring. Sure, Noah did try to insert some feeling to his narration, but it fell short most of the time. So if you're looking for a basic reading of the book, you'll most definitely enjoy it, but if you like me, are looking for something more, that added flavour and feeling you are bound to be a bit disappointed.

I remember that when I finished reading this book last year, I was practically salivating for it to turn into a series, I still do want - no need - more books with Rain and Danny. But I'll also say that if judging it solely by the audiobook I wouldn't have been as impressed, as I just didn't connect to it the way that I did when reading. So if or when more books are published, I think I’ll stick to the written word instead of the spoken one.

A copy of this book was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review for Love Bytes.

Playful. Steamy. Enigmatic

P.S. I Spook You is the type of story , I love listening/reading.

An entertaining, colorful , offbeat hybrid of whodunit , murder mystery, FBI investigation , romantic comedy , delicious descriptive hot AF sexy times with Paranormal activity in the form of helpful, friendly , mischievous and even at times grumpy ghosts , one of them , a bit of a voyeur . Yep, that's right , this is a very original and quirky tale.

Noah Michael Levine did a great job . His narration was solid and engaging.

Great Start

it's a great start to a series. This one was hard to get into at first, despite the humor. I loved the humor BTW. it started to pick up in the middle and I was hooked thereon. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series!

Fbo agent sees dead people

This is the first book where Rain hasn’t yet come to terms with his ability.Rain and Danny are back together for the first time after their breakup. So it’s a nice will they won’t they love story, a cop solving cold case, and the occasional ghost.

Nice cold case murder mystery

A nice story of a fed that can see ghosts coming to grips with the fact and solving mysteries. It looks like it might be the first in a series and I am excited to see where this goes.

Surprisingly good

I was down to the dredges of good books left in the audiobook free library so I gave this a shot. It ended up being really good and interesting. Storytelling and narration are on point and it keeps moving at a good pace to keep you interested. I will be getting the next one in the series.

I liked but didn’t love

If you are looking for an extension of Kelly and Blue, this is a great substitute. Unfortunately the more the series goes on the more ridiculous the Kelly component becomes. By the end of the series Rain is a flippant ass that I no longer have patience for. I rated it high because the story is solid but I wish I could take away 3 stars for the deterioration of Rains character. In the end he’s so flippant …. Aggravating. But there is a good and solid story. In the end I took away stars because the main ghost character, who I truly appreciated, that resolution wasn’t played out. He deserved a full resolution. Not the disappointment of 15 second he arrives when summoned and an article was written.

Entertaining story!

I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this one. This was my first experience with reading or listening to anything by this author or this narrator so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the synopsis sounded interesting and it seemed to be sort of a hybrid of my favorite genres/tropes. And ultimately, I found that to be true, even if I wasn’t a big fan of the narrator.

Wow. I was blown away

I really loved this story. It grabbed me and kept me enthralled for the entire book. I think that this is one of my favourite audio books that I have had the privilege of listening to. Noah Michael Levine is perfect, so talented. I will definitely be listening to it again soon.
