About this listen

Dirty rich one night stand.
That's all it was supposed to be. Her. Him. Pleasure. And then a fast good-bye. He's a stranger. And yet he's not. She knows him even though he doesn’t know her.

He's the powerful attorney, now world-renowned after coming off the trial of a century which was publicized across the country. And I'm one of the reporters that sat in his courtroom.

I watched him, studied him, got to know him from afar which isn't hard since I know his exact brand of confidence, arrogance, and wealth.

I know his type. I've dated his type. Which is why when I happen to come face to face with him, when sparks fly and heat simmers between us, I know what happens if I say yes to Reese Summer.

I know he'll taste like sin and sex, even before he kisses me.

I know he'll feel like pleasure and passion, even before he touches me.

I know he'll demand more than I wants to give, and yet, because I dare to give myself to him, the result will be deliciously hot.

I know that I will not leave his bed without being utterly, completely sated.

And I know that I will leave the next morning anyway.

And so, I do.

And so, he follows.

And as the chase begins my question becomes: Is Reese Summer the one or is he really just a dirty, arrogant lie that should have stayed a one night stand?

Great Story!

Since I had a little time between books I thought I would catch up on some older books and author Lisa Renee Jones is always a favorite. Her stories have all the feels and will leave you feeling happy and content. And you will be left wanting more from her.
Cat is a lawyer turned, journalist and she writes a blog on trials and court proceedings. She is covering a murder trial that has everyone on edge because a woman and her unborn child were murdered and someone must pay for the crime. While waiting in line to get her morning coffee before heading to the courthouse, a man butts in front of her in line. She proceeds to chew him up and spit him out because he is rude and has no manners. When she gets to the courtroom, she can only find a seat in the back and notices the attorney up from is none other than Reese Summer.
Reese is an attorney headed to court and stopped off for coffee. He stepped around a woman playing on her phone. The woman begins to yell at him about it and all he can think about is kissing her. She is sexy and he wants to meet her tomorrow for coffee. He wonders if she will show up. When he gets to the courtroom and looks around he notices Cat is sitting in the back of the room.
Can Cat and Reese spend one night together and the sizzle between then be gone? Will Cat be able to lower her walls to let Reese in? Will Reese share his secrets with her? Can Walker Security help Reese win his case?
I have said it before and I will say it again, this author is an automatic go-to for me and I love everything she writes. I loved Cat and Reese and the narrators for this audible were great too.

A tumultuous and compelling love story

It was nothing I was expecting. Sure, I got the one night stand turned instalove between an alpha lawyer and a strong willed woman. But it was a lot more than that.

First of all, there’s a real romantic suspense aspect. The trial that starts it all isn’t just a background element, and it’s full of twists and turns. Reese even plays some kind of detective, as it’s a murder trial and he’s looking for the real killer. It’s also an important part of the love story. It defines the relationship between Reese and Cat, mixing the personal with the professional on various levels. It’s also a big step in both their careers, and their professions play a role in their relationship, sometimes hindering it, sometimes helping them connect.

Also, family dramas are predominant. They’re the reasons for their hang ups regarding relationships and love. They explain most of their actions and decisions. Later in the book, they also become a huge plot point and bring troubles between Cat and Reese. I loved that, for once, it was a common decision, not a case of one of them choosing to break up for another stupid reason. In a way, once they overcome all their hang ups, Cat and Reese are unbreakable.

Maybe the story is a bit soap opera like, with more things happening every time you think it’ll go smoothly.

But was it steamy! Cat and Reese are explosive together. They’re adventurous and I liked that. The one night stand deal sure seemed like a good idea at first. I was happy there was feelings–though they appeared quite fast–but it didn’t look stupid that they denied it for some time. Hard to distinguish the love behind all that lust and chemistry.

Both narrators are favorite, so I was happy with their performance. But I have to admit that I felt the female narrator did a better job with Reese than the male narrator. In my opinion, there were more feelings and emotions in her voice. It still was a very good audiobook, for a tumultuous and compelling love story.

Great Story! Great Narration!

Lisa Renee Jones pulled me in with Cat and Reece's story, while Erin Mallon and Joe Arden performed it brilliantly. I loved how they brought the banter and emotions to life. The chemistry is wonderful! The scene at the coffee shop was great. I so enjoyed how this book was original, yet was plenty hot and had some great humor. The added suspense to the book was a plus for me. I really enjoyed this listen and can't wait for the next book in this series. This is a standalone listen.

Fun Courtroom adventure

The interaction the H/h had, the first time they met, cracked me up. He was such an arrogant prick and I loved how she put him in his place. However, I started liking the Hero based on his retreat, after she shamed him.
I really enjoyed experiencing the development of their relationship. I also really enjoyed the detailed discussions about the trial. It was nice that the trial was actually a real part of the story, not just background noise. It was really nice to listen to a romance in which the couple developed a strong intellectual relationship instead of only a physical and emotional. This book was a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend it.

I wanted to swoon over Reese!!!

I pretty much liked everything about this book. The way they met, the way Cat put Reese in his place which ultimately made him want to pursue her, and the way they worked together throughout the whole book.

Cat seemed on the verge of running for part of this book but thankfully it was more in thought than in action. Reese pursued Cat from the start and never wavered, which I love to see in my heroes.

Reese is defending a man accused of murdering a pregnant woman. Cat is following the trial for her newspaper articles and potential book. Reese lets her in and they work together and discuss this case which made for a great way to watch these two characters connect.

There was some family drama thrown in on both sides to keep things interesting and also to introduce us to future book heroes. We also get to see the Walker brothers and their women from the Walker Securities series.

Strong and Hot

I really enjoyed this book narrated by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden. The rapid fire, sassy wit from both Cat and Reese was captivating by their ease and fluid banter that kept me captivated.

Cat and Reese first meet when she refuses to react to the handsome and arrogant Reese rudely pushes his charm/weight around in her favorite coffee shop. Cat is a highly read journalist/columnist with a law degree following Reese's court case for her column. Reese a cocky-never lost a case- defense lawyer is captivated by the "take no prisoners" and mind your manners reprimand from Cat. She has seen his type of arrogance before, she's even tried to stay away from it. He's handsome, sexy as hell, and takes what he wants despite the fact they're attracted to one another, they both feel a "get it out of your system one night rendez vous" will alleviate the sexual tension. When one night turns to two, then three, the impartial columnist, finds it difficult to observe from outside the bubble.

I love a rapid fire, sassy, back talking, witty banter between a strong intelligent woman and a sinfully sexy and equally intelligent man, and this book captures their dynamic wonderfully as the story reveals the truths in the trial and between their strong feelings for one another. So much so, I'm grabbing the next book in this series.
