About this listen

Amarie Avant presents a steamy, witty romance with an alpha male and a kick-ass black heroine!

Renee Riley

I’m at the pinnacle of my career, and I don't have time for games.

Not even training matches between the MMA fighters at my family’s famous gym.

But when my brother’s enemy wipes the floor with him, I want no part of it.

It’s just a game.

Until the muscular god, with intense dark eyes, makes me his enemy, too.

I’m ashamed to admit, it’s gotten dirty between Jhang and I.

Jhang Li

I’m the king of the octagon and lack a worthy adversary.

I’ve got a vice grip on my championship belt.

But when Renee Riley returns to town, I devise a plan to make her family pay for their sins.

The tiny, feisty beauty will be the easiest takedown ever.

I’ll worship my enemy’s sister into submission.

Renee can hate me tomorrow.

Not usually a fan of the novella…

But this one grabs you from the start, fills in all the gaps and leaves you satisfied; along with the hero and heroine of course. Good job Ms. Avant! Caught me by surprise. Loved it.

Secret Love between the family Enemy 🔥🔥🔥

The story started a little awkward. it's two ppl Deep in Lust with each other. The H and h seem not being able to stay away from each other.🔥 They were in their own little bubble of contentment. I enjoyed the characters interactions. I actually wanted a little more of the story family.

Fun, sweet love

I enjoyed this love story between Renee and Jhang. They are so called enemies in the MMA world, opposite sides of the cage with Renee's family being dominant in the field. Jhang turns Renee's world upside down in more ways than one. He proves to be a contender for her brother in the cage and her heart outside the cage. They begin 'courting' and fall in love. Their journey, although quick is a little bumpy but as they get to know each other they find a truly sweet love. The narration of this book by Rogers and Willacey was also good.

I'm a sucker for Amarie Avant stories!

This was an AWESOME story! I read Bad for You. It's nice to read the origins of the Lee family! I'm dying to read River's story even more now that I know his girlfriend's background story!
I love how your stories all seem to tie together so flawlessly!

nice story

I truly enjoyed this book especially finding out it is more of a back story. I'm looking forward to reading about their daughter Tatum in Fear None.

This worked better in print

For me, the story worked better when I read it. The conversations between the characters were cute, but delivered awkwardly by the narrators. Xenia Willacey's delivery with some of the dialogue can come off more as panicky instead of defiant.

Fun but confusing

Initially I was excited for this since it’s this authors first man of color(she’s done latin men but many of them read as white). I still was reading it, but it wasn’t the five star read I thought it’d be.

I was sold that it was bad boy/good girl(which was accurate) and enemies to lovers but I’m not sure I loved the way the second was executed.

Sometimes I wasn’t sure what it was about. It was a lot of words without a goal. The narrators did the best they could with what they had but despite it being entertaining, I didn’t see the main objective to the story. And then it’s shorter than her normal stories so there wasn’t as much to connect to as other books.

I hope this author continues to make Asian men because I love to see more of them. I wouldn’t call this a miss but it wasn’t her best.

Such a sweet and possible story

As an avid reader I run into a lot of yeah right stories. Almost impossible but we read anyway because of the HEA high. But this is one where it is very possible. Even her The McKenzie crime family books aren't too far fetched. The love hate was palpable but it worked. Because in all of it Love won. Prejudice and misunderstandings were still brought around by love. maybe not made perfect but it was able mend. Renee was smart, strong and made being a heroine look good. Jang was the asshole Alpha we all love. Fun story must read.
My only con: The make narrator sounded more Hispanic than Asian 🤷🏾‍♀️.
