Yoshiro escaped a career of crime with the mafia after they killed his family. For five years, he's dropped out of life. All he wants this Christmas is to be left alone. Then, Ebony and her kids accidentally crash onto his property during a snowstorm. For three years, they've been running from her husband - who's been more monster than man.
The storm picks up. They are forced to remain with Yoshiro until it dies down. And the threat of Ebony's monster remains, lurking within the shadows and threatening her safety. But Yoshiro knows all about death and blood. Her monster doesn't scare him. What has him terrified is that heartwarming feeling sparking between them. The more time Yoshiro spends with Ebony, the more she becomes a Christmas present that he's dying to open. Too bad, she's promised herself that she will never let another man in her or her children's life again.
Yet, sometimes the best Christmas presents come from a bullet. Every so often a good Christmas miracle is a cut-up body to end a nightmare. And even better, at just the right moment two lonely people can find light in their darkened souls and open their hearts to a new romance.
Contains mature themes.

Yoshiro was pretty cool with his humor and tenderness. He clearly had some wounds needing to be healed but he definitely was only about hurting those that deserved it. Not innocent bystanders. I felt for him when you discover how and why he lost his wife and son. I’m glad he killed the men that killed them.
The way Ebony and her kids quite literally crash into Yoshiro’s life was an accident and definitely a blessing. They needed each other. And by the end they heal each other. And it’s completely beautiful to watch the fall. I loved this story. And the beauty in even the dark parts.

It was soooo good and Mari, my absolute favorite female narrator of All time was outstanding. She made me feel Everything. I appreciate the writing, giving the heroine courage to do the unthinkable. Eric is a new narrator for me, but will never be forgotten. He showed how Yo Yo was smooth, confident, honest and vulnerable. You can really appreciate an Alpha male who's a ride or die. Yasss Yo Yo!
My only grip is the baby was 14lbs. Really Kenya? Anyway, I savored the action, suspense, facing your fears and those adorable wonderful kids. They writing for them was incredible. This is one of Kenya's masterpieces that I will visit again very soon.
Ooooh baby baby! Love me some Yo Yo!
