About this listen

Davis Way Cole smells T-R-O-U-B-L-E when she's fired from half of her part-time job at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. The quarter-time job she's left with is lulling her to sleep, exactly what she's doing when Birdy James, centenarian director of the casino's Lost and Found department, disappears. With five million dollars.

Davis just can't help believing Birdy didn't do it, if for no other reason, she's too old to spend it. If Davis doesn't find the little old lady and the money fast, she'll lose what's left of her job, at which point, there goes her Bellissimo everything.

What she needs is a good luck charm. What she gets is her home invaded by hardheaded women, a softhearted little man, and major carpet troubles, the combination of which sends Davis' already suspicious mind into overdrive and landing her between a jailhouse rock and a very hard place.

A little less conversation and a lot more action are called for if Davis has any chance of saving herself, her family, her marriage, her job, and the heartbreak hotel she calls home. Thank you. Thank you very much.

so good

Best series ever.
Love the characters, their families, their flaws. The story this time around keeps you guessing and is, as always, full of hilarious moments.
Amber Benson is as perfect in this book as she is in all the others.
if you haven't listened to Davis' story, start at the beginning and enjoy.

T. R. O. U. B. L. E.

we return to the 29th floor of the Bellissima hotel after hurricane Kevin To Davis Way only having a quarter of a job as she is no longer the double for Bianca Sanders. Relationships between daughters and mothers are always complicated. The one you can always depend on.

Wonderful performance and great writing all 9 books are good. Especially 2 through 9. Book 1 is a great set up book for the series.

A bit less chaos would have been better

The chaos was a bit over the top for me. Made it difficult to stay tuned in to the overall story. I'm a big fan, read every book, but slightly disappointed with this one.

Davis is a loving mother!

Davis is off her game and that always is bad news for the casino; but it is because she is now a mother and caring for her twin toddlers comes first. Her husband should of known better than to put the mother of his children in charge of the casino while he was gone. luckily, she pulls it all together and saves the day in the end. The only question left is - why has her father started calling her pumpkin in stead of Sweet Pea?
