About this listen

Dragons invade Pittsburgh.

Mike Merlino serves as the magical guardian of the city and vows to solve the problem.

He discovers only one option that will work. Find the illustrious Dragon Horn. The mystical musical instrument can summon the noble dragons he needs to save the city.

But there's a problem.

Mike must journey to a murderous faerie netherworld to uncover the horn that’s been buried for 500 years.

Will he die like the thousands who have failed on the quest, or will Mike unearth the elusive instrument and use it to reclaim his city?

If you enjoy snarky urban fantasy by masters such as Shayne Silvers, Jim Butcher, and Orlando A. Sanchez, you’ll have a great time with this adventure.

This audiobook includes unique characters, like a vegetarian Sphinx, an ornery faun, a rhyming red cap, dullahans, and a wingless pixie.

Good story

Great book full of excitement, magic, and adventure. Add in a hero who is flawed, but still relatable and you get a really good book. The narration is good and fits the story.

Great character arc

I like the way the author shows character growth in this story. With each book the author shows the main character with a little more growth. The author shows how the hero becomes a hero, in every since of the word, a little at a time with each book. the narrative of this story gave me chills as the written words become alive with the story telling.

Secondary characters make this book more bearable

I was told that this was the first book in the series by the author and I really should have double checked because it’s actually the middle of the series. As soon as I started this book, there was a dragon invasion happening and I was extremely lost as to why there was an invasion and who the characters were. I personally wasn’t too fond of the main character, Mike, because of his personality, drunkenness, and inability to take responsibility for his actions. I mainly stuck the story out because despite him, the secondary characters made it worth it and I wanted to see where the ending brought them.
Benjamin did an okay job with this narration. I feel like he took too many pauses between sentences and it felt more like a reading than a performance. I did appreciate that he gave each character different voices and personality.

Burn saves it...

I struggled through this one, due to the narrator. in all honesty, I went and grabbed the KU copy to finish the story. I did like the plot, although the main character is really immature. If it weren't for Burn, I don't know if I would have liked it. She seems to bring about some growth in Mike by the end of the book. I'll have to read the next one to see if that promise holds true.

I think there must be a prequel though. there were several references to Mike and Alayna in the past, without a lot of detail (Alayna saved my life, etc).

If Burn isn't in the next books, I hope she gets her own series.

Great book

While this may be the fourth book in the Bloodline Awakened series you can read this as a standalone without being completely lost. This is actually the first book by this author that I have read and I really enjoyed it so will be reading the rest of his work once I can get to them. Good Read

Dragon Horn (Bloodline Awakened #3) was a good read by J.P. Rice. Mike Merlino is a magical guardian of Pittsburgh and vows to solve the problem of the dragons who invaded the city. He learns that the only way to defeat them is to find a mythical musical instrument, The Dragon Horn. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
