Publisher's summary

Delton is convinced Adar is his mate…until Oliver shows up.
From the moment he meets Adar, Delton knows they’re meant to be together. So what if Adar doesn’t notice him? Delton isn’t in a hurry. Until Oliver joins the pack.

The second Adar lays eyes on the sweet, fragile omega, he knows he’s found his fated mate. Hell, everyone knows because Adar won’t leave Oliver’s side, protecting him 24/7. But he’s patient, more than willing to wait until Oliver has healed.

Oliver doesn’t question his connection with Adar, but things aren’t as easy as they seem. Adar has needs Oliver can never satisfy—but Delton can. But why would the beta even offer to help Adar find the release he needs through impact play?

When Oliver discovers Delton’s feelings for Adar, he’s determined to play matchmaker. But matches can lead to a fire…and with no one to control it, who will get burned?

Dragon’s Surprise is the sixth book in the Irresistible Dragons series, which needs to be listened to in order. This book ends on a cliffhanger, and the storyline will continue in the next book.

Read the rest first

This book is Not a stand alone! I haven't read the rest and by chapter 8 I was beyond confused. I was able to follow everything before that. Then suddenly we're in the middle of a battle and revolution.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Need More Please!!!

And to no one’s surprise, this book is absolutely amazing, well that is anyone who reads or listens to Nora Phoenix’s books and if you don’t you should, starting this series from the beginning, even better start with the “Irresistible Omegas” series, the world and characters Nora created are incredible. This book picks up soon after the fifth book, “Dragon’s Stand”, left off, but it also gives us glimpses into in the past, meaningful events that explain why things are the way they are. It is also the start of another relationship, fated mates Adar and Oliver, and possibly with a third, Delton. Adar felt the connection with Oliver the moment they met, but Oliver was broken, only a shell of himself. When it is time for his heat, he asks Adar to be the one to help him, and the protective Adar is honored, he asked. Delton, the pack’s therapist, has been helping some omegas get through their past trauma and Adar asks him to help Oliver and to be there for his heat so he could make sure Oliver does not suffer. Delton has feelings for Adar, but Adar is clueless and Delton, the nice guy that he is, agrees to do it. My heart went out to Delton, even Oliver caught on to his pining for Adar, but promised to keep it to himself, though that did not stop him from trying to have the two spend time together to see if it would waken something in Adar, because Oliver senses he may just be their third, like most relationships are within the pack. There is never a dull moment in this book, and I am loving how everything is playing out with the dragon council, though I am not loving how the book ended, mainly because the next book is not out and I need to know what happens next, not only for Adar, Oliver and Delton but for Rhene, Erwan and the rest of the shifters, especially the dragons. Nora Phoenix, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 John Solo continues to work his magic to deliver another exceptional performance of bringing the characters and story to life. His character voices and portrayal of each has been consistent, and it is amazing how he can voice so many characters and give each their own unique voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling each one. John Solo’s versatility truly shines and his performance elevates this already amazing story to another level. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Love comes in many many ways

In this installment, Delton is convinced that Adar is his mate. He feels the bond deep in his soul from the moment they meet, even though Adar doesn’t seem to notice him. Delton, however, is willing to wait and bide his time. But when Oliver, a sweet and fragile omega, joins the pack, everything changes.

Adar is instantly drawn to Oliver and is convinced that he has found his fated mate. He becomes protective of Oliver, never leaving his side as Oliver heals from his past. The connection between Adar and Oliver is undeniable, and everyone in the pack sees it. But things are not as simple as they seem. Oliver, while deeply connected to Adar, cannot fulfill all of Adar’s needs—needs that involve impact play, something Oliver isn’t able to provide. Enter Delton.

Delton’s unwavering feelings for Adar come into play as he steps in to offer Adar the release he needs. It’s a unique and delicate situation, as Delton’s love for Adar mingles with his desire to help him in ways Oliver cannot. The tension heightens as Oliver becomes aware of Delton’s feelings and decides to play matchmaker, pushing them together in an unexpected way.

Nora Phoenix masterfully navigates the complexities of these relationships. The deep emotions, the bond between mates, and the struggle to balance physical and emotional needs create a story that is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching. The introduction of impact play adds a new layer to Adar’s character, exploring the different ways in which individuals connect beyond the traditional boundaries of romance. This dynamic not only challenges the characters but also the readers to think more deeply about what it means to truly be there for someone you love.

The story ends on a cliffhanger, leaving readers on edge and eager for what’s to come. The emotional turmoil and the unresolved tension between Delton, Adar, and Oliver are sure to leave a lasting impact. Phoenix’s ability to weave such intricate storylines within the fated mates trope keeps this series fresh and captivating.

Narrator John Solo delivers yet another powerful performance, perfectly capturing the emotional depth and intensity of each character. His narration brings life to the story, making it an even more immersive experience for listeners. Solo’s ability to differentiate between characters while maintaining the flow of the narrative is nothing short of impressive.

*Dragon’s Surprise* is a beautiful blend of passion, vulnerability, and complexity, making it a standout in the series. If you’ve been following the *Irresistible Dragons* series, this installment will leave you breathless and anxious for the next book.

Sweet and Romantic

I have fallen in love with this series and listening to it on Audible has been so enjoyable. These characters are truly brought to life and it's amazing. Adar has known that the sweet and timid omega dragon shifter Oliver was his fated mate from the moment he saw him but getting him to trust him has been a process. Oliver has finally found a place that he can call home and feel safe. Adar makes him feel safe and when he realized that he is his mate he feels like Adar is his home. Delton has been so sure that Adar was his fated mate from the first time he saw him but there have been no feelings returned and he has come to the conclusion that he is wrong especially since Oliver has come into the picture. Delton tries so hard to do the right thing and help these to find their way in their relationship even though it is painful for him. Oliver has the idea that Delton is the third in their Triad, but things get mottled, and Delton gets hurt. I love that we get to see all the past characters and that the stories do truly revolve around all of them in a way. Then you're left with that cliff hanger. I can't wait to see what comes next.
