About this listen

Everyone knows my face. No one knows the real me.

All people see when they look at me is a beautiful man, a supermodel, half of the world’s most famous twins. No one sees the man underneath.

When I return to Forestville, the small town I grew up in, for my high school reunion, I impulsively decide to stay.

I’m now the proud owner of a house, an absolute fixer-upper. Never mind that I have two left hands.

Thank god for Cas, the local contractor, who agrees to help me out. We come from completely different worlds and are almost 20 years apart, yet we somehow connect.

Cas sees me, the real me.

We hook up.…
Then become friends….
With benefits (courtesy of a snow storm)....
And a fake relationship (long story)....

But when fake becomes real and pretending turns into feelings I can’t deny, I’m left wondering if what we have stands a chance.

Renovating the Model is the first book in the new Forestville Silver Foxes series, a contemporary small-town MM romance series featuring hot silver foxes and the men who fall in love with them. Each book can be listened to as a standalone.

I have a spotty relationship with this author’s books and I promised myself to not start a series until all the book’s released. Yet here I am lol. I enjoyed this book. It was easy to listen to. I love the narrator, he’s one of my favorites. I mostly enjoyed this book and have plans on reading the next book, depending on the subject matter.

I really enjoyed this story. I haven’t read/listened to many books from Nora Phoenix, but I will be getting the rest of this series when it’s available and definitely checking out the rest of her audiobooks.

Loved this story.

This is a story with two very sweet main characters and great friends. The story builds well and the romance is definitely felt off the pages.

Being that I am a huge fan of Nora Phoenix, I hate to even give a review that is anything less than stellar for her work, but its about the narration, not her writing. That said, let me first say that I really enjoyed this story! So much so that I will definitely be listening to the rest of the series when it comes out on audio. The only criticism I have is with Michael Dean's pronunciation of both the Portuguese words and one of the names. Let me first say I am definitely a big fan of his so this pains me to write as well, but the combination of Nora's common use of uncommon names with Michael Dean not pronouncing one of them correctly was like nails on a chalkboard for me. It didn't ruin the listen for me, but it was SUCH a distraction that I literally paused the book to look up the name he was saying in the kindle version, and then Googled the Portuguese pronunciation of the name Tomaś because he kept pronouncing it like "Toe-mah-sh" or "Tomaaash". And, he didn't even do it consistently. It was more like 75% of the time he pronounced it Tomaaash, and the other 25% of the time he correctly said Tomaś. I know this probably sounds nitpicky, but I'd like to think that if there's a name you'll be saying over and over again, you're going to either strive to say it correctly or at least consistently say it incorrectly. Other than that, their story was so sweet and I loooooved how the whole town came together to support them. Story gets a 4, narration gets a 2.5/3. *ducking head to avoid the tomatoes being thrown at me lol*

Enjoyed the story, but...

Tiago thinks he’s just back in his hometown for a reunion and a maybe a hook up. But when he sees a house for sale it will all change for him as realizes what he really wants. He ends up coming home and finding way more than just a hook up. I listened to the audio version which I enjoyed.

I loved the story of the small town aspect and the older man finding love with the younger man the way the story flowed telling the good things in life as well as the bad things in life That what you have to go through to have a happy ending

The triggering issues were handled well, the story felt believable and not fictional. I especially loved how Tiago learned to navigate his life with his learning difference and Cas’ patience. The narration was spot on. Can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series!🤩

What a great story!
