Late one night, Commissario Guido Brunetti's telefonino rings. A woman's body has been found in a Spartan apartment on Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio. Brunetti sees some signs of force on the old woman, but they could just as easily have been from the radiator near where she fell. When the medical examiner rules that the woman died of a heart attack, it seems there is nothing to investigate. But he can't shake the feeling that perhaps the woman was threatened.
Conversations with the woman’s son, her upstairs neighbor, and the nun in charge of the old-age home where she volunteered do little to satisfy Brunetti’s nagging curiosity. With the help of Inspector Vianello and the ever-resourceful Signorina Elettra, perhaps Brunetti can get to the truth and find some measure of justice.

The wrap up at the end was painful. Really painful and many questions for me. Primarily, what happened to the dead woman’s art work? It’s gone. The elderly man did not take it. So who did?
Characters were great and Venice descriptions spectacular! But the loose ends is something I am not used too from this series and I was waiting for the twist!
Not as good as prior books

I'm weaving an irregular path through the Commissario Guido Brunetti Mysteries. Just because I finally have the time. The order of the books is vaguely irrelevant to me because I am completely ignorant of Italian policing and finances but love to see visual or word pictures of Venice. That being said, this is an interesting think piece. At what point does a heart attack become murder? Who, how and why? Leave it to Brunetti to leave no tesserae unturned and learn things about himself in the process.
I have the audio ably narrated by David Colacci with his clear and easy to understand pleasant voice interpretation.
different than usual

Any additional comments?
I've listened to every book Donna Leon has written with David Colacci as the narrator. Ms. Leon is a wonderful writer, and she keeps the stories interesting throughout the series. The characters have depth and breadth, and Venice itself seems like a character in the story. I've tried listening to some of the books in this series read by narrators other than David Colacci, but none of them measure up to his skill. I haven't made it more that about 10 minutes with any of them. My only complaint about any of the books in this series is that I wish they were all read by Mr. Colacci.Fantastic, as usual.
