I really love The Expanse Series

This is a short story giving background to characters and expanded understanding of the future created in the Expanse series.

Whoops...

Reminds me of Tom Goodwin's "The Gulf Between" about a man stuck in full acceleration. But that man has a robot doctor aboard that keeps him alive, and conscious, as he flies off into eternity.

Well written.

A nice back story and addition to the Expanse universe. I wish it was longer which is a hallmark of good literature.

Solomon didn't kill himself...

I really enjoyed seeing a more hashed-out version of this as I originally saw this depicted on the TV show.

Good Short Story - I liked it better than book one

This was well told. It is just a short story that probably doesn't move the Expanse plot line ahead much (maybe it does?), but I enjoyed it. I have read Book One of the Expanse series and I didn't love it because the lead character spent so much time thinking about his actions; this book definitely has that but it seemed to have a bit more happening. Mr Mays, the narrator was excellent.

Listen to Books in Order

I re-listened to all the books of the Expanse series. The first time, I listened to them out-of-order. I don't think many of the books were published yet. The story made more sense when I listened to the books in order. I hadn't realized that it would have made that much of a difference. The shorts were the best. My favorite was "Strange Dogs."

Short but Nice

A very short novella describing the invention of the Epstein drive. Nice story, nice character, nice narration. Totally unnecessary unless you are an Expanse geek.

Loved it

Short and tragic. The tale of the Epstein drive. Fitting for the Expanse series. Very well done.

Not necessary

If you're an Uber duber fan of the series it's definitely worth the hour listen. Most of the story is filled in the gaps of the 1st few books. But a joy to get the more flashed out world. If you want to start the series with this book it wouldn't hurt if you want to pick this book up midway through the rest of the books it wouldn't hurt either.
