Marshall

I hate Valentine Tye.

I’ve hated him since we were ten years old. I hate everything he is, everything he stands for. Even the mention of his name gets my back up.

And when I see him?

My blood boils. My jaw clenches and my hands curl into fists. That’s how much I hate him.

I want to cause him pain. I want to hold him down and actually hurt him.

And if that’s not bad enough, that’s exactly what he wants me to do to him.

Valentine

I know what people think of me. I know what they assume. They all think I’m some spoiled rich guy who’s had everything handed to him.

They don’t know me at all.

Behind my carefully constructed walls is an emptiness so dark it scares men away. I like pain. I like being used. For some messed up reason, it validates me. I don’t need love or affection or, hell forbid, emotional attachment.

What I need is a man who hates me, a man who despises me.

A man like Marshall Wise.

Because never in a million years would he ever feel anything for me.

Right?

Holy hell

It’s hard to give a review for such a book. Chemistry 10. characters that you want to hug, slap and hold all in one couple. This story is just enough over the top that you’re clinging to every word from chapter one but just enough real and gritty that you need to know they make it through. It’s romance perfection

Adult Enemies to Lovers Romance

My favorite type of romance with great characters and sexy Aussie accents...what's not to love?

Steamy

I loved this one. Lots of steam from the get go, as these two go from enemies to catching feelings. Really enjoyed them together, both the steamy scenes and the more relationshipy scenes of movie watching and hanging with Enzo. I enjoyed Marshall being protective and taking care of Valentine in all ways. Fantastic narration from Glen Lloyd. He’s become one of my absolute favorites, with his wonderfully perfect tone and character voices.

perfection

New favorite MM couple. The sex is unreal and has so much fire. But the relationship is so so good. The hate they have for each other and the way they talk to one another changes over time to something absolutely beautiful. Marshall and Valentine are perfect.
The audiobook was complete perfection. Loved it. Will be an automatic relisten. I've already listened to it twice in two months.

Loved it 💕

I really enjoyed these two complex guys. There is history there, hate sex, a power dynamic and a traitorous cast. What’s not to love? It is written very well and we have time to get to know these characters! Another hit from this author/narrator combo!! 💕

Really Fun

I just loved this book! While enemies to lovers isn't a theme I would generally select to read/listen to, N.R. Walker is a favorite author whose books are an auto-buy. This book did not disappoint! I fell in love with Marshall and Valentine's story. Walker provides background history so we know where Marshall and Valentine are coming from. We join Valentine and Marshall when they find themselves working on a construction job together. Valentine's father gives him the job leading and running the business end of the construction unit of the family company. Marshall is one of the construction supervisors and leads a gang of men actually doing the physical construction work. Valentine has major trust issues and PTSD from his family upbringing, and has learned to armor his emotional well-being by keeping everyone at arms length and maintaining a cool detached demeanor. And he is a gay 'size queen' who craves rough sex (that's how he manages to keep his sanity in the sanitary isolated world he's lived in since birth). Marshall was "in hate" with Valentine from early school days when Valentine was always the "golden boy" and Marshall was forced to live with reduced circumstances when Valentine's father took over Marshall's family hardware store. And Marshall is well-endowed, hence the text ID Valentine assigns him, a 9" pizza emoji.
That's just the set-up for this delightfully sexy and very human story. Definitely recommended!
Glen Lloyd was an excellent narrator, perfect for N.R. Walker's book.
